After getting my ps3 on the internet and downloading the most recent version I now struggle to play gt5 as the game freezes while loading up :-( a have just had to reboot the game 8 times in the last hour' all my other games work fine just gt5

It sounds as if you have a bad install. This is not an entirely unusual problem, but yours seems to be more critical.

So, at this time, my recommendation would be to delete the game updates and re-install.

It still don't work' unless I The Internet is unplugged then it works fine. Even tried to load up with no updates:-( I'm gutted. Every other game works spot on.

If it works off-line, then who knows what is wrong?

OK, since updating again didn't work, then I'd recommend taking it to the next step. Firstly, not every re-install works. You may have to re-install more than once, as others have found.

Also, if any of your update downloads are getting corrupted, you should know that the PS3 doesn't always catch the error, allowing you to install from bad files. Because of this, I would recommend that you do the next update at another location, hopefully through a different ISP, if you can, because people get good results that way.

I'm also trying to find people with similar troubles who are willing to change their DNS service from their crappy one from your ISP to a third-party one, such as openDNS (instruction at their site). If this simple change, usually done in your router, fixes this common problem, I'd be really happy. On top of that, using a better DNS service can't hurt. Update after re-assigning the server.

Sounds pretty much like the problems I had when 2.02 came about.

Use ipconfig /all and check out what your dns servers are for your internet connection(on a pc).

Then give the same dns servers as a manual setting in PS3. That is my advice.

It's really poor programming practice developers used for communcations that expect certain performance on your internet or it will lock up the game. DNS server that do not have certain domains in storage forward this request on and this takes longer. And this causes lockup. Beginner developer mistakes really....

So, are you saying that I may be right in that the DNS servers are affecting these issues?

I've been using openDNS long enough and haven't experience any of these corruption and connection issues that I don't want to go back to the ISP's servers to test things.
