I saw this posted over at GT Planet and would post it here more of a discussion as I dont think think GT5 XL edition will be released in the SCEE Terrortories.
Mainly for the point of the hi lighted 2 bits of intresting reading.
Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition features the full original version of Gran Turismo 5 game, the best-selling racing game on PlayStation 3, all of the downloadable patches and free feature and content updates through Spec 2.0, as well as a voucher for all of Gran Turismo 5′s current and yet –to-be-released DLC valued at over $25.
- Original Gran Turismo 5 game
- 1000+ customizable cars
- 20+ Tracks, 70+ layouts
- 16-player online racing
- New online racing challenges updated on a regular basis
- All game patches/updates since launch, including new Spec 2.0 update released in October 2011.
- Voucher for over $25 worth of DLC, including 25 new cars, 4 tracks, and more
- All of the DLC from October, December, and early 2012.
First up :-
All the DLC* from October, December and early 2012
Racing Car Pack (15 cars)
Racing Gear Pack (90 items)
Paint Pack (100 items)
Track Pack (Two tracks 5 different layouts)
Car Pack 2 (4 Cars)
DLC Early 2012? (does that mean that come the update around the end of January there will be more DLC?)
* Info taken from HERE
Voucher for over $25 worth of DLC, including 25 new cars, 4 tracks, and more
This is the confusing part. Is the line above saying that the voucher is for the 25 cars and 4 tracks (including Variations) or is it saying there will be more content namely 4 more tracks (excluding variations) and 25 more cars.
Yes I am aware the XL version isnt being released in the SCEE terrotories but if its listing DLC early 2012 + listing +25 cars and 4 tracks then thats good news isnt it?
However I read it as the $25+ voucher of DLC, including 25 new cars 4 tracks and more does not include the 2011 DLC.There was not 25 cars released and 4 tracks. it was so far a total of 19 cars and two tracks.
Whats your thoughts on this?

would be nice to see this come to the UK (EU) as I would like to buy the game but the massive amount of updates it now requires would take a big chunk out of my capped braodband DL limit... but I doubt SCEE would want to have to give that much content away to UK (EU) customers for free for starters...

I bought "Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition" from ebay for £32 including postage. It works with no problems in the UK. I have never owned any other Gran Turismo games so can't really say if there is any difference.
I made a unboxing video, have a look if you want
