"On the 27th of October 2015 (local time) at the Paris Games Week event, "Gran Turismo SPORT" was announced, exclusively for PlayStation®4."
Here's the full clip from the SONY conference with Kazunori Yamauchi on stage announcing Gran Turismo SPORT.
Polyphony Digital and SONY have been quick off the mark, and we already have a new section on the Gran Turismo website, plus articles posted on both the EU and US PlayStation Blogs.
So let's take a look.
"The latest instalment of the Gran Turismo franchise, which as of March 2015 has sold over 75 million copies worldwide, is coming to PlayStation®4 with the name “Gran Turismo SPORT”!
The graphics, sound and physics engine will be the most realistic ever experienced in a driving simulator thanks to the new platform and the new technologies, but that alone would be a too obvious improvement: the way driving games are played will also undergo a huge revolution with “Gran Turismo Sport”.
This is a vision that invokes the rebirth of motorsports."
The FIA Gran Turismo Championships:
"In “Gran Turismo SPORT”, there will be two online championships running simultaneously: In the Nations Cup, players represent their home country and in the Manufacturers Cup, players represent their favourite car manufacturer."
"Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams as a spectator."
"The winner of the championship will be awarded in the same manner as real life motorsports champions, at the FIA prize giving ceremony."
"But it’s not just about online racing; the GT teams have continued to build on the games legacy of accessibility to ensure that the game is open to all to enjoy."
Announcement of Beta Testing:
"With the beta expected to begin in Spring 2016, it won’t be long before players can experience all GT has to offer on the power of PS4."

I see the media is starting to jump on the rumour about an October release. A few minor retailers across Europe have put that as a release date too.
After hearing PlayStation VR was releasing in October, I had a feeling that GT Sport might come then. It would make great business sense for Sony. Although I did think also, that Driveclub's VR update would be launched with PlayStation VR. But I guess that might be delayed with the studio closure.
E3 is next month. I'd expect a big announcement then.
I think I've seen a post somewhere saying that it's been leaked? for October release with VR on same day??
Possible, really looking forward to GT on PS4!
i wonder if there might be an update next weekend on the GTS front as there a small rumor it might come very early next year and we need to know ASAP
Yeah apparently some event volunteers at a GT Sport demo event in South Africa, said the game was coming out at the end of January. I doubt it. But let's see. I'll have to do some digging.
Think the the most recent thing we have seen on GT Sport. Was the game appearing in a PlayStation VR trailer.@skells22
Nice one, lets hope the Driving Physics are Second to None - fitting to my ID :)
Ohhh Yeah!! Bring it on, did I spot NASCAR YES YES YES!!
I'm blown away at how good this actually looks! and also how much they seem to have packed into the game. There seems way more in this GT than I've ever seen!
It will be epic!!@S2N-Ava
I've been playing Assetto Corsa and the Driving Physics are very good, really hoping that this GT Sport is as equal or better, something in my head says it will be slightly less as GT is aimed at a different market. Assetto is a small company but their first priority is the Driving Physics, the rest of the game is not so polished.
GT Sport, I believe is this FIA collaboration that PD set up a while back, at least it looks like it might be. GT7 when they get around to it will be the more familiar game that we have had in the past. At least that is my view on how PD are progressing.
But hell yeah, bring it on...
Visually, the game is looking amazing. And from what I have played of it, it feels great too. There's a reason why I feel a sense of familiarity when playing Assetto Corsa. So I can't wait for GT Sport. Sure, it isn't the full blown GT7. But I assure you, there is enough content in the game to stand alone in it's own right.
There's some pretty impressive images posted on the Gran Turismo website - http://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/news/00_4840425.html
A short interview with Kaz at PSX
I was very disaponted when there was the only 2017 at the end of the trailer but i do understand that Kaz needs to be 100% sure before giving everyone a release time frame, hopefully that will not take too long to get a new date (I was also disapointed there was no season to go with the year)
Yes it's all nice to see the great video of GTS and it does look great, don't get me wrong on that one. But it would be nice if they could start giving us more of a hint/s when it will be coming out other than just saying 2017
well, Kaz says that when he knows its hit the target time frame then we get a 100% certain time frame so its a case of "stay Tuned"@my525mustang
@RenegadeXtreme if you wanna make a seperate thread for this
Does anyone know about the FIA GT Sport license ?
If my account is a UK account but I currently live outside the UK, will I be able to retrieve my GT racing license from the local authority where I live ?
First of all, it is a bit early to know all of the ins and outs of the licence agreements. It will partly depend upon which country you either reside in or are a citizen of.
"As of May 2016, 22 countries/regions have expressed their wishes to participate in this program. We will announce the final list of participating regions, conditions, fees and procedures at a later date."@yazbeckj
Any news/info on the GT FIA Licensing ?
Would it be possible to obtain the licence from the country we live in/hold a driving licence from if the PS account country is different ?
(Both countries are mentioned between the ones participating)
Both countries (my account and the one i live in) are participating. I hope that I wont have to create a new account for where I live because all of my GT history and progress are on my other one.
Will be waiting for any news from GT.
I have the collector's edition Pre-Order anyway. Will keep trying the beta for now. Looks great already.
Thanks for your reply :)@MastrGT
