Re: Gran turismo 3&4 ps3 hd remake.

What is it with remakes of older titles in HD all of a sudden? Make something new.

Re: Gran turismo 3&4 ps3 hd remake.

What's the point they look good enough on PS2 why would PD spend months remaking GT3 & GT4. When GT5 is going to have all if not most of the cars from those games anyway. Plus I played GT3 on PS2 about a week ago and ***** does that game feel old, Just wait for GT5 its all your ever going to want anyway.

Re: Gran turismo 3&4 ps3 hd remake.

However, with each release, something from a previous version was different or missing.

My guess, at this point, is that GT5 will have something missing that someone wants, too.

Being able to play old versions helps broaden the appeal of the hardware and the game series.

Not that new releases should be held back to do this, of course, but GT5 was held back a bit for the PSP version, at least.

Re: Gran turismo 3&4 ps3 hd remake.

It's quite different when comparing games like God of War to something like GT.  While the former strife primarily for gameplay, the latter is about realism which in the case of GT is anything from realistic graphics to driving physics.

And no matter how you many pixels you can cram into GT3 or GT4, the engine is too outdated to make much of a difference.  Besides, in GT5 you get almost all the cars (in Standard form and even some Premium) from the past GT as well as tracks.  I can't imagine anyone missing any element from GT3 that will not be improved in GT5.

And if you still want an HD version of GT4, either dust off your old PS2 (or buy one for $50), pull out that old copy of GT4, get a component cable and set you display setting to 1080i (and 16:9 ratio) and voila you get an HD GT4.  I don't know if it's the same in all region but my NTSC copy supports 1080i.  And the visual result is surprisingly good- just a couple of notch below GTHD.

While I understand the nostalgia with the early GT games, I can't see much sense to anything but the first GT.  And that's in order to give a basis of comparison as to where GT is heading.  Anything after that is counter-productive.
