Re: Gran turismo 5 Delayed AGAIN?!

With all regions being listed as TBA, and with SONY people giving us hints at 2011, even 2010 is not definite, right now.

I'd say with the way that Sony seem to have been testing the water with these 2011 rumours, the chances of game being released in Fall 2010 is not better than a 50% chance now. If you'd asked me at the start of the year (even after the Japanese delay) I'd still have said a 2010 release was 100% likely across all regions.

That's why I'm hoping that they are keeping an eye on these forums to gauge the frustration of us users as to the delay on this game.

2011 is not acceptable in my opinion.

oh well, thx guys i hope itll release this year, but if they will need to rush it out, i rather way few more months...

rush it out!?!?!? are you kidding me, if polyphony releases the game and anyone considers it a rush release i'd hate to think what i slow and painful release is.

To put things in to context, Gran turismo 4 (technically the true predecessor to GT5- GT5 prologue is a demo with a few extra bells and whistles) was released back in late 2004, thats over 5 years ago, which means that there are some people on this forum who started and finished senior school in the time it has taken them to make this game- and it still doesn't have an official release date!?!?!?!?

Part of the problem in my opnion is the Prologues, i mean its nice that they are giving us a pretty decent game/demo, but frankly if they just forgot about making prologues and focused on making the main game then maybe we would be getting somewhere.

Re: Gran turismo 5 Delayed AGAIN?!

i hope it comes out soon as im loosing the hype of it, i know there was really no official realease date, i hope its good as they say it is... Really im just glad they take time to make a game, i am over the new nfs titles every 10 months

Its just something i wanted to play years ago and now it feels like an eternity and i have kind of moved on from driving games since there hasnt been a good one in a while i have liked personally.

Re: Gran turismo 5 Delayed AGAIN?!

It's by far my most anticipated game for the PS3, but having been through the numerous fake-release cycles they have made us endure over the last year my anticipation for it is low now, partly because I've already accepted that the chances of it even appearing in 2010 are slim, consequently it's still no closer to release than it was three years ago.

Re: Gran turismo 5 Delayed AGAIN?!

Sony needs big numbers this year and GT5 is a console seller. It'll add at least a million consoles to Sonys numbers. It makes sense to wait until the second half of the year, specially when Sony have so many big hitters coming out in the first quarter of the year (GOW III, MAG, Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers) and have so few officially announced titles for the latter half of the year. So they wait, space out their exclusives, hit the market in the summer lull when nothing much is released and people have money to spend and watch the sales soar.

Think about it this way. Sony are backing both GT5 and Modnation Racers, both exclusives. If they both launched in March as intended, how many people would bother with Modnation? Most would get GT5 and that would be it. By spreading the releases out you guarantee greater sales for Modnation and Sony really wants its exclusives to sell well and finally break the myth that PS3 exclusives are poor sellers.

Re: Gran turismo 5 Delayed AGAIN?!

Shopto have GT5 down for the 3rd September and to me that would be an ideal launch window to maximise sales leading up-to the holiday season, only 7 months to go in that case.

Re: Gran turismo 5 Delayed AGAIN?!

The problem there has been loads of really ideal times to release. And with the complete lack of info about why this release date still hasn't been given, we're constantly clutching at straws.
