I didn't notice this at first, but I was doing speed tests with the new test track and found out that my cars are getting slower performance after repeated use. When I first bought the red bull x2011 prototype and also the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 they both had more horsepower and also faster 0-60mph acceleration than after use.

I tried to change the engine oil, give a car wash, and even replace the body chasis... it wouldn't let me attempt to overhaul the engine, stating that the engine did not need to be replaced. But the thing is I can't get the LP700 nor the redbull car to revert back to its brand new performance baseline levels... 

So all cars will physically age and degrade in performance over time and from use? If I back up the saved game data (my own, for my own use) can I restore it at some later date to get all my cars back to pristine condition?

BTW does anyone know what is the horsepower of the redbull x2011 when it is BRAND new? Is it in the 1500's range or the 1600's range?

Basically, is there a way to get my cars back to the "factory" condition without having to buy a new car of the exact same model or otherwise repurchase another same DLC pack?

Would a restore of a backed up save game from an earlier date work? Is there other easier way to test cars and play around with them without having their performance degrade?

Don't worry too much about this, seriously. As you progress in the game, of course, providing you stick with it for the next year or so, you will have over a thousand cars in your garage and credits coming out of your ears. Once you get to that stage, if you think that a car is not performing as you would like, just get a new one.

Regarding the X2011, I haven't got a brand new one, and I'd have to buy another one to find out the answer to your question and, to be honest, I'm not buying any more X2010s or X2011s because I've now got seven in my garage. But I can tell you that my current X2011 has 3743 miles on the clock and has participated in fourteen races and is at 1630BHP.

I do, however, have a brand new, unused X2010 that hasn't even had an oil change and that is currently at 1438BHP. I have another X1010 with 1804 miles on the clock and that is at 1540BHP. I also have an X2010 that has 166,793 miles on the clock and has won over 540 races and I've just giiven it an engine rebuild which has increased its power to 1479BHP (with use, and a couple of oil changes, that will increase to over 1500BHP).

And don't go into all that trouble of restoring game saves, it's just not worth it in my humble opinion ;D

If the engine cannot be overhauled that implies to me your mileage is still fairly low? It is a curious thing you describe and I must admit I've not noticed cars getting slower but I've not tested it or driven an individual car to very long distances (as I frequently swap between many cars).

What is your mileage and current BHP levels on said cars? Also, you didn't alter aerodynamics or tyres between testing?

When you start driving a brand new car, the first 350 km or so are imperative to get the most out of it.

Of course you change oil before you start, and then every 100 km (appr. 70 miles), until power reaches max.

I've noticed the difference in the final result, which made me think about the logic of it.

The first time you drive the car is also the first time the engine takes in the oil. Because a lot of that oil will stay on various engine-parts and not flow back in the system, the engine will effectively run dry pretty soon.

To prevent damage, change (or rather refill) oil before you see power decreasing.

I guess I have two more questions...

I crash a lot during races (not because on purchase, just because I'm still getting used to the G27 and PS3 /GT5 mechanics, and I don't know how to drift or countersteer correctly, and the force feedback on the G27 can't be turned off and it makes it harder to drive than if there was no force feedback) .... so for someone that crashes into other cars and walls almost every race... will this damage the "mechanics" of my car and make them permantely less powerful in any way?

Like in real life if you total your car in a bad crash, a oil change, carwash and even engine overhaul ain't going to bring it back to the way it was... is this true in GT5 as well? So if I crash too much then my car is toast or at least the LP700 nor the redbull car reverts to performance of a Toyota Corrolla or something? 

Last question is, I would have to earn 400,000 cr for a new LP700 and probably I read $20,000,000 cr for a new red bull. I'd like to have multiple LP700 and redbull car as backup... but that many cr points will take forever... Can I repurchase a second car pack 2 and car pack 3 to get double those cars?

Although I'm not sure how the car is affected by mechanical damage, I'm sure it must do, or else they wouldn't have the option to restore rigidity. So, once in a while, if you are using, and crashing a particular car a lot, just take it to the garage and get it seen to.

About your second question, I'm not sure, but it may be possible... I've never thought about it. But, again, I would advise patience. Just ease yourself into the game and you'll soon get to the point where you wondered why you worried about such things

Funny enough I did some testing on the whole "crashing affecting performance" thing over the past couple of days.

My findings indicate that crashing during A-spec races does increase the reduction of body rigidity which negatively affects handling. This even remains when going into a different race afterwards. A little bump will have little or no effect but several large smashes will. Restoring Body Rigidiity makes the car handle nice and crisp again, but whether some permanent damage has been sustained I cannot say.

I've noticed that a car will naturally begin to noticably detoriate in handling as it gets around 400km (250miles) since the last restore.

Like I said in my previous post, I havne't noticed a car's power decrease. The furthest I've driven a single car is 2,400km.

The "Wear in" period for a car is 320km (200miles) although some of my cars didn't wear in until 400km. Once worn in, the car is significantly quicker by the odd second or two a lap.

I looked at my red Bull car that has done 1,200km (750miles) and if memory has recalled it correctly, is sitting on 1556BHP.

Just maintain them well ie change the oil, overhaul the engine, and restore the body rigidity. Also you can buy them new in the dealership.
