Hyperdrive Racing Cockpits

[ Edited ]

I just bought one of these cockpits from  Hyperdrive Australia. I currently have a very basic one made from MDF and i was going to build a nice new one but couldn't be bothered.

Hyperdrive have lots of different cockpits starting from $199, this one cost $259 + $12 delivery. I've got a nice piece of timber (WA Jarrah - redwood)  and i will give it a good sanding and a few coats of lacquer, then screw it to the steering wheel mount. Just gotta wait for GT5 now............

Re: Hyperdrive Racing Cockpits

I highly recommend the seat raiser kit and replacing the straps with ones that have a metal fastener thingo

(or take it back & get the Dominator :smileytongue: lol)

I used to have a cool sig and avatar, but they don't work anymore :smileysad:

Re: Hyperdrive Racing Cockpits

I've looked into the seat raiser kit.........$130 no way. I've got heaps of nice timber stored in the shed, so i'll knock together a seat raiser out of that :smileywink:

Could you be any ruder?  Gavsta posted his new purchase, and you bag it straight away.  We all know you really love your seat and all, but there is no need for that.

The hyperdrive is probaby quite good for what it is, its better than what most people use to play GT5 - a DS3 or a dodgy wheel at the table set up.  It is light weight, and looks comfortable enough...

Thanks Nick, at least someone understands the practicality of it............expensive isn't necessarily better :smileywink:

Once i've screwed the nice redwood wheel mount on (which will be as wide as the main frame) i'll add a tacho and speedo so it looks like a dashboard. I'm putting together the seat raiser ATM, and i'm thinking i might add either 2 chrome exhausts, or tail lights to it...........

*cough.... Hori Fighting Stick aye Gav :smileywink:

On topic.. I hope it does you well... It's always hard with peripheral stuff weighing up how much to spend.. but if you are a casual player of a genre it is easy to get caught up and spend way more money than necessary.

I won't be getting a wheel, because I've never used one on a console and I fear the learning curve transitioning to one... it's not going to be as simple as jumping onto Sega Rally or Daytona at the arcades.

I've played every GT to date with a controller, with aids and without pro setting... including the concept disc that came after GT3, so I fear to change now would have disastrous consequences
