Hi all,

I know there is a CLK - GTR Race Car '98 on the full car list.

It's also shown as the prize for all Gold in the AMG Special Intermediate Event.

My UCD has just come up with a CLK - LM Race Car '98.

This car is not on the full car list.

Questions :

Are these cars one in the same?

Why doesn't the list show this car when it's clearly in my UCD?

Does anyone happen to have both a GTR and LM?

If i had all Gold in the AMG Intermediate event I could answer this question myself, but I'm one Gold short so I'm not sure whether to buy this Cr 3.5mill. LM model or not.

I little quick off the mark.

After reading the UCD text, apparently the LM is the successor to the GTR.

Unless someone can tell me something different, I guess I'll buy it.

Hi Tassie.

Just did a quick bit of research.

As you rightly said the Merc was originally named the CLK GTR in '97 for the FiA GT Championship, it was also available in a road going version for homolgamation purposes.

It was upgraded and renamed the CLK LM in '98 to mark the fact that is was entered in the Le Mans 24Hr for the first year.

For those interested in '99 it was further upgraded and renamed again, this time called the CLR, where at this years Le Mans 2 famously attempted to do impressions of aircraft, one with Mark Webber at the wheel, the second with Peter Dumbreck driving, the third car in the team was withdrawn for obvious safety concerns.

hmmm... I'm not sure about this.

I created a spreadsheet of all the cars available in Gran Turismo 5. I cut and pasted all the car names from the official list into my spreadsheet as they were then.

So, at the time that I created that spreadsheet there was a car called CLK-GTR Race Car ‘98.

I have just checked my garage and I have a car called CLK-LM Race Car '98.

So they must be the same car and PD have tweaked the name for some reason. I was quite particular in getting the names in my spreadsheet correct, cos I'm strange like that, and it has definitely been changed...

Hmm... Interesting I did the same, cut and pasted into spreadsheet from the official list at the time and in that list it was called the CLK-LM Race Car '98, which is as it is listed in the garage.

PD must have tweaked the list.

P.S. Does that mean I'm strange too?

To me, all signs point to the fact that the GTR and the LM are the same car renamed.

Therefore I assume no-one has both of these cars in their garage.

So that being the case, I'm going to pass on spending Cr3.5mill. in the UCD on the assumption I will win it when I finally gold the AMG intermediate final challenge.

(Which BTW has to be one of the toughest challenges in the game)

Well I'm stumped Tassie.

I watched the link you provided, clear as day CLK GTR '98 (wrong year for real car should be '97) becomes CLK LM '98, so I just checked my garage as I still (thankfully I didn't loose it when my 60GB went toes up) have my CLK race car, it starts as a CLK LM '98 and stayed that way.

The only thing I can think, and it is only a pure guess on my part, is given the date on the video is Feb '11 that perhaps it was a minor error in the earlier version of the game that has since been corrected in an update, apart from that I haven't a clue.

Although in Japanese, it would clearly seem to show both a GTR and an LM in his garage.

Changed my mind now.

Guess I will buy it and hope it's not a waste of Cr's.
