I think one of the reasons I get so bored with GT5, is that most offline championships are a few races long, and always starting at the back, which means the AI has to be a bit rubbish/slow for you to stand a chance in winning in the same car.
This is fine for action, don't get me wrong, but I'd like to see the option to be able to do a qualy session for a more 'normal' race too, plus more tracks in a championship season, instead of 3 to 5.
eg. you could have an option to choose betweeen Arcade race, and Race weekend or something.
I think the qualy for race format would be great for offline too.
(i've never been online since the game came out, but I'm guessing that it isn't there)
If it had this option, I'd gladly go online again, and it wouldn't be hard for PD to add.
Good idea, or complete Loon?!

If you are bored while racing AI off-line, then I think the remedy for that is to get racing humans on-line. Once you start racing on-line, your whole GT experience will change for the better.
Unless there is a serious barrier to you going on-line, then you are unnecessarily restricting your gameplay.
Check out the active groups on this forum and you will be welcomed to race with them.

Hiya, it wasn't so much about being bored with offline, it's just that sometimes I'd like more of a serious championships option in gt5 aswell.
Don't really go online with it much, as when I did I was getting horrible lag, and bumper car sessions. It was mental ![]()
The longer qualy/race format usually removes the bumper car peeps online aswell. ![]()

It would be worth doing a speedtest to see what your internet speed is like and then check your PS3's connection to the router/modem.
Seriously, online racing is great fun with a good group of like-minded people. I'd recommend checking out the SFS thread which is an all-day event every Sunday. A lot of fun and friendly chat to be had there. ![]()

One way or another, on-line problems can usually be resolved, many of them are fixed just by racing with friends, not strangers.
SFS is just the re-introduction that you need.

+1 for SFS

I +1 that too SFS was good fun however work comitments mean i can no longer take part which sucks.
But going back to your original point i agree i would like to see more options for customisable championships in offline mode.
Maybe in the practice area seperate from the core campaign / career races where you could select any combination of tracks for your championship and set PP limits, drivetrain type, tyre limits etc and these races should earn xp and cash. Maybe base this on how close to the other cars PP you are. So if you take the ***** by using 100bhp more you get a low value prize.
Qualifying should definatly come back to GT series and make the AI more challenging in the race. It should be a challenge to hold onto your position and take a few more places rather than a hamilton speicial trying to storm through from the back against massivly inferior opposition.
Even now in practice mode in a ONE MAKE RACE with no mods and the same tyres its way to easy to destroy the AI field of cars.
Customisable offline championships would add huge amount of longevity to this already great game.
