Greetings all.
So, First of I want to start by saying that I'm not that big into cars in real life, I don't know much about them but I have a little experience. A couple of days ago I got myself GT5 because I quite enjoy car games, And I've not had any problems with the game... Till I got a Viper SRT10 Coupe!!!
See, The thing is I got this car thinking all is well because hey, its not cheap for a newbie like me, I went to test the car online with some of my friends and well it did not go to well, I started to spin out every time I went to turn a corner, I did however update the Engine to Spec 1 before hand.
I quickly ran down the stairs of my creaky old house expecting my boyfriend to know why this madness was happening to me..Because like any other man he is big into cars and he is a massive rank in this game. But sadly nope.. He'd rather see me suffer in pain and drive like an old granny, he wont help me =(.
So I call for aid community! What is going on with my brand new car! Can anyone support me so that I can gain control of it. I really need to tame this animal if its going to be road worthy, the cops on the RP law servers will kick me out automatically..!
waaaaa!

You've picked yourself agreat car in the Viper, but it is a bit of an animal which will catch even the best drivers out if they're not concentrating.
Easiest thing you can do to try and get a bit of control is upgrade the tyres depending on if there is a tyre restriction set in the lounge your using online. The next thing you could do is upgrade the suspension and the drivetrain, if you don't know much about cars then you'll need to look for something called a "limited slip differential" when you add it to the car go to your garage, go into the setup screens, when you select certain components you should find an orange square with a question mark in it, select that and read about how different tuning components effect the car, after that it's a case of trial and error untill you find the right setting for you. There are always plenty of car setups to help out dotted about on the internet if you need any help.
The biggest thing about the Viper is practice though, throttle and brake control is essential. GT5 isn't a game you can just jump into and expect to be quick.
Good luck.

Try putting the skid recovery force on if the race allows it.

Simply drive smoothly. Coming out of a corner, instead of giving it a bootfull like other cars, gently and smoothly open the throttle. If you feel the back end stepping out, decrease the throttle slightly until it grips again.
You could also use ballast to make the car heavier, or use the power limiter to reduce the power and build it up gradually.
