I look forward to hearing about the results of your playing around with sound setting :smileyhappy:

You and me both!

Unfortunately, trying to get an acceptable result with the cans was a complete waste of time. I've settled on Small Theatre 5.1 output, through HDMI, to the the TV for now. Incidentally, Small Theatre output through the headphones caused the engine volume to fade as the revs increased - and it was more noticeable when using a car fitted with a blower!  TV audio is now a little better so, thanks for your suggestion MastrGT.

So anyway, I gave up experimenting disgusted that a Sony game - output through official Sony Headphones - simply doesn't perform to their usually high standard. Of course, this will put the kibosh on me trying online racing because you need to output both ambient and speech audio through the headphones as you can't hear the TV with them on  - and I broke my Sony earpiece (well, the Vax did when I wasn't looking properly).

Roll on an update / fix.  :xCry:

Re: ⚠New Update⚠ GT5 V.2.06

I'm not sure how all of the sound environments work myself (because what I have them set at here works, so...) , but I am glad you got some improvement.

With regard to using earphones: you have choices, depending on the equipment that you have available. For example, if your room speakers have a 1/8" output jack, then you can easily use earbuds under stereo chat headphones, for game sounds and chatting together. This is what I do, to keep the room quiet, except for my voice. You still have to play around with volume settings, however.

It involves a few wires, but you can control them, and it is very efficient and comfortable.

Hah - it gets worse!  LOL - aren't I the lucky one. My new Gizmo stopped working already and I've had to return it and order a replacement today. Grrrr....

The equipment I have, the Official Sony PS3 Headphones, is more like ear defenders when using only the mic. There's an audio/voice balance slider built in and a separate master volume slider too. I like your idea of using additional earbuds but, tbh, I am so disappointed I really cba atm. Btw MastrGT, looks like a nice efficient set-up you have there, thanks for your input.  :smileyhappy:

Edit: I really ought to use the spell checker!  :smileytongue:

Re: ⚠New Update⚠ GT5 V.2.06

That picture is from the Prologue era, so an extension cable for the fat MP3 player is unnecessary today, with smaller USB mem-sticks. Otherwise, everything is still the same.

The real hard find will be a similar, small USB 4-port hub.

The ports aren't usually arranged like that anymore.

New PS3 consoles need hubs, if you have gadgets.

Good luck replacing your headset.

It seems we have a slight misunderstanding. My headset is fine! The gizmo I was referring to is the SL-4421-SBK-01 adapter.

Remember I can't use the insert icon button? Nor can Insert a picture!  Ugh....

Aw.. He's really cute MastrGT.  :smileyhappy:

I can cut and paste off the board no probs!

But, having read all the guides and FAQ's, and not seeing any of the supposed options come up, I'm sure there's either something you're not telling me or it's my Security software. Probably my dumb Internet security Suite

Re: ⚠New Update⚠ GT5 V.2.06

Welcome to the GT forum here, K-r9!

That depends on what the real problem is that you are having.

Next, empty GT5's cache. Then, while you are still in Options, try to recover damaged GT files. Make sure that you have the best network environment available to you (also switch over to openDNS's DNS servers), then try updating again.

If that is not enough to continue updating, report back what the exact error number is.
