Photomode nice to have...

I was in photomode the other day trying to catch a particular shot but failed. In order to get a moving car to appear sharp you need to up the shutter speed. That in turn doesn't allow you to capture movement in a shot. In real life I take my camera to Oulton Park in persuit of one of my hobbies. One of my favorite style of shots is where I pan the camera following the movement of the car. This give you a car that is sharp(ish) and the background and wheels appear blurred, due to the panning motion and relatively slow shutter speed. Here are a few examples:-

DSC_6198.JPG

As you can see, the subject of the picture is reasonably sharp but the background and wheels are blurred and give a better feeling of motion.

Now, this isn't a complaint or anything. I'm just saying that it would be great if they could implement this panning feature in photomode, rather than just allowing you to freeze the hole image...

Re: Photomode nice to have...

I assume you have tried all 3 of the panning options in the advanced settings? Pretty sure I've seen GT5 captures displaying this effect.

Re: Photomode nice to have...

thanks for the link dood... Some good advice in there. Fortunately, with photography being a hobby of mine, I know most of the theory, I just didn't realise panning was available in photomode  You learn something every day

Re: Photomode nice to have...

What a complete noob I am. Just been to Photomode and clicked on the camera options and there it was! Three panning modes!

Works a treat to, better than what I could achieve in real life lol...

Re: Photomode nice to have...

May aswell mention before i forget, when using photomode at the moment, if you use a filter (say black & white) take a pic then go back into watching the replay, it'll be in black & white!

I think it's already been mentioned elsewhere though. Just thought i'd give a heads up. :smileyhappy:

Re: Photomode nice to have...

thanks to the above guy, always wanted to see black&white replays, especially when using old classics, we had this option in GT3 as regular, shame GT5's replay options arent that good :/
