Returning to GT5P, whats new?

Hello fellow racers,

I used to own GT5P at release and played it quite alot, if my memory is correct i had two title updates in the time i played it. I sold my PS3 and all games but bought one again a couple of months ago.

So what cars, options have been added? im not looking a massive list to make me buy the game i already know i like it :smileyhappy:

I recently picked it up again and had to start from scratch. Like the others have said not a lot has changed unless you like paytv, lol.

I disagree.

PD made one noticeable change that rejuvenated on-line racing - Expert events have no rubber-band effect now and they have told you this for each update ever since they removed it, too. Getting rid of this nonsense was the best thing they could have done, under the circumstances of Prologue, except giving us host controls and passworded rooms. It made on-line racing fun again!

Re: Returning to GT5P, whats new?

MastrGT: You forgot to mention they made all the cars so easy to drive now, that it has become a lot harder to outrund the rammers and the bumpers... it was done the last time they deleted all the online times (as I remember).

That's one of the main reasons I'm not racing a lot online now. Yeah, they removed the rubberband effect, but what does it help if everyone with a sixaxis can keep up.

I agree that it's far to easy with the sixaxis/dualshock compared with a wheel.  I gather there is some sort of steering assistance with the sixaxis.  Is this true and can someone describe what the effect is or how it works?

Re: Returning to GT5P, whats new?

My guess is that the grip is just a little better with the sixaxis. Some months ago my wheel broke down and I had to use sixaxis in the middle of one of our TT's. And in places on the track where it was impossible to race full throttle, I now was able to.

Right now we are doing a 6-week TT on TeamHD.org and we are using the Amuse S2000 on Suzuka, and it's an extreme difficult event. You have to be so carefull on the speeder.

Never the less, some of the fastest are using a sixaxis... either they are VERY skilled, or I am right about the better grip.

Just try grab your wheel and do the event, and you will know what I mean.

Re: Returning to GT5P, whats new?

I got this on Release too, but i have never really had the patience for GT in the past, but now my little boy is 4 and Cars daft ( i dont drive meself) i have picked up basically every single racer thats been released for the ps3, Burnout being his favourite first off.

Then i went back to GT5 to show him, and it became a case of trying to buy a few cars for him, then i got him a wheel, now he never gets a shot of the wheel and i have just reached the S class with 3 races left to complete, and a decent garage to go with it.

Gotta say i absolutely love this game, thanks to my little boy, but im becoming a bit stuck with the tuning side of it , what with not knowing a thing about a car except it has four wheels, a steering wheel and gears lol.

Anyways this is more of an hello to this part of the forum, and to say that i cant wait for Gt5 full release, infact i have dug out me ps2 and thinking of buying the older GT's just to pass the waiting time, really annoyed i never took the time to get into these games when i was younger (28 now). :smileyhappy:
