Don't forget to send Pudds a friend request.

If you haven't raced against other humans before then this is a great place to start.

Aye, sent Pudds a FR before I got in my car. Erm.. do I need to be human to compete, it's not in the requirements?  I'm looking forward to it actually, provided my daft BT ISP hangs in there  :smileyhappy:

Nah, you don't need to human really... you will more than likely meet a few GT5 "Aliens" in there from time to time posting ridiculously fast lap times. But they're a pleasant lot :smileyhappy:

Oh, and it is a well known fact that it is I that is the slowest driver, regardless of car...

Re: SFS

For a car I really don't like driving much coz I usually suck with it. I had alot of fun today. Was making a few mistakes in the morning session. But had a break. Watched the F1. And came back to win the 1st race in the afternoon session.

I actually enjoyed the second race a lot more than the race I won though. Starting from last. Worked my way up from 10th to 4th on the 1st lap. Got knocked off the track back to 10th. And spent the next 5 laps chasing. Finally finishing in 3rd place.

3rd race was turning out to be a real close one. Was sitting in 2nd place. And a mistake up ahead gifted me 1st place. But I went through Eau Rouge at 122mph and lost concentration on the exit and the back end went. So was back in 7th place. Was catching up. Thought I could maybe steal a 5th place on the last lap. But then up pops on my screen that the tv is about to go into stand-by. So me being stuck behind my racing wheel, I couldn't reach the telly remote. And it switched off. Hope I didn't crash into anyone :smileytongue:

Thanks for the great races. Cyaz next week :smileyhappy:

Re: SFS

I was quite impressed with your handling of the car, Ren. :smileyhappy: On that second race I set my fastest lap time of the day, a 2:44.xxx, while trying to stay ahead of you. :smileyvery-happy: Didn't take too long for you to get past me heh.

Great event today. Many thanks to the organisers.

Yah, I met a few aliens today alright. But, happy to say, I've stolen your title mate.       I was the slowest driver today. A whole bunch of people were both welcoming and friendly, offering vague tips to a novice, which was very much appreciated. Only thing I didn't enjoy today was being Maldonado'd off the track on one particular occasion but a coffee and cigarette break gave my wrist time to recover. After that it was all good friendly pushing and shoving - until I was, inevitably, left behind again.  I hope I'm free next Sunday to retain my new title  :smileytongue:

Re: SFS

It was good to see you there Pedantic. T-boning is allowed, providing that it is not a deliberate act, and the T-***** hangs back for the T-boned and doesn't disappear into the distance.

Set-up advice can be a bit vague at times, and you'll find that one person's car set-up just doesn't suit your style. I must admit that I prefer SFS events that use factory spec cars with no tuning allowed. Us slower ones still have our bums wiped, but we at least don't have to bother about the car tuning aspect.

And you only have my title for the time being. I have seen so many new peeps join up here and very quickly surpass my limited ability.

Oh it was deliberate alright. I won't say who it was but they left the session immediately afterward. I hit the invisible wall so hard that my G25 needed to be re-attached to the table and, boy, was my right wrist smarting some.  I really enjoyed the friendly pushing and shoving though - especially Pudds gently tapping me this way and that to get by   As to your title, unless someone gives me one-on-one driving lessons, I'm not going to improve anytime soon so I'll look forward to racing with you next week.  :smileytongue:

Re: SFS

Welcome to the 1/7/12 Sucker Free Sunday thread.

SFS "Sucker Free Sunday" is an open invitation to all Gran Turismo 5 racers to come down to a track each week and have some fun, learn something new, and hopefully make some friends along the way. Every week, different car/track combos and regulations will be posted here on the OPC Forum, along with any other information you will need. The idea is not so much of a tournament or league (no leaderboards or prizes), but more of a track day to get to know fellow drivers from this forum.
This is an all day event, with the idea that you join in at whatever time of the day is most suitable for you. So if you know when you are likely to be on track please feel free to post in this thread and let others know. We are still running this event in private lobbies so you will need to be on the friends list of a regular user to join the races.

Below is all the information you need to take part in this Sunday's races:

Car Information:

 - Cars: Lexus IS F '07 (recommended garage).

 - Tyres: Sports Hard.

 - Aids: All turned off apart from the driving line and ABS, which can be set to 1  (maximum).

Event Settings:

 - Race Start Times: Throughout the day with no more than 15mins between races

 - Track: Cape Ring Periphery.

 - Total Laps: 8 laps (max).

 - Pitstops: optional

 - Game Mode: Normal Race.

 - Start Type: Grid Start with false start penalty (keep your foot on the brake untill it says go).

 - Grid Order: Reverse Grid Based on Previous Race Results.

 - Boost: No.

 - Penalty: Weak.

 - PP limit: N/A.

 - Power limit: N/A.

 - Weight limit: N/A.

 - Grip Reduction: Real.

 - Mechanical Damage: Light.

Tuning:

 - Factory Spec (recommended garage).

*READ ME* - Final Information You Need:
 - Hosted by 'Pudds'  this week. If he hasn't added you on PSN, please add him before Sunday. This is because he will be keeping the lounge open for everyone, even though he might not necessarily be around in person.
 - The SFS lounge will be open just before 9am.  After you finish a race, whatever time between the race finishing and the next race starting is yours to use in free run or talking. It is up to all of the competitors in the lobby to make sure the races start frequently.
 - The lounge text chat will of course be in use. If you have a headset, the voice chat will be live as well. As is normal with the voice chat currently, it might take several minutes to fully kick in, so don't be alarmed if you can't hear anyone to start with.
 - Anyone can start the races. The best thing to do, would be to talk to each other either by voice or text chat, so you know everyone is ready to start the next race. Agreeing a start time after each race should be the way to go
 - Even though this is SFS, and just a get together, remember to follow the HDC/Honourable Drivers Code.
Finally, the most important thing... have fun out there!
