I stopped playing GT5 around a year ago because I sold the game. So I bought another copy of this game and tried to transfer my save data from 1 PS3 which is a bit messed up (freezes a lot, heats up etc) to my new slim ps3, but it won't allow me because it's prohibited? I found something on the net saying if I create another profile with the same PSN ID I can get it back online, but this didn't work.

I'm signed onto this PSN ID on both PS3's. Is there any way to get itback, because I had over 1300 days played on my old profile and don't want to start again after all that.

GT5 save game is not Copt right protected when you have downloaded the Updates for GT5 on Both machines.

Make sure PS3 User names match exactly before trying to transfer save game then select the first save that does not say (back up) on it

PS3 USER ( Name of user ) ,Original PS3 

PS3 USER ( Name of user ) -NEW-- PS3 =  Must be the same on New PS3.

You must then link the Same PSN ID from the first PS3, to this new PS3 User.

If you don't have online to update PS3 or GT5. you won't be able to transfer the save game

Some time ago, I did a similar thing, that is, bought a new PS3, and I successfully transfered the game save from my old PS3 to my new PS3, using the same (this) PSN ID.

The difference being that I used my same game installation disc, although, I know for a fact, that this did not matter. Later on, I bought another GT5 disc, and I was able to use the new disc in either PS3's in order to play the game, and each disc was transferrable between each PS3.

So, the only thing that I can think of is that you have used an installation disc from a different country from your original install, or a different country to which your PSN ID is registered to.

Ah, so the the user ID (on the ps3 itself) has to be same aswell?

I cannot get on to my old ps3 anymore, as it's really messed up now.. I did manage to get the GT5 update that allowed me to transfer my data. So now I have a copy of my OLD save data (the good one) on my USB but can't get it onto my new ps3 (same PSN ID, different user ID). It keeps saying you are not alllowed to copy this? My new PS3 is up to date and has the latest GT5 update.
