thanks mate, i also checked and there are new cars in the online dealership, they are mainly RX7s and LMP cars

the FGT is still there but it changed colour, it is now red for me, i am waiting for the pink or orange one to show up :)

The NASCAR event was pretty easy, got into the lead at the karussel on the 2nd lap.

the Mazda event is freakin impossible though, I've got a car that is only just eligible, and the best I can manage is 10th

Yeah the NASCAR was easy once I stayed on the track.

The mini one wasn't bad.

I got lazy with the Mustang one and just cut the corkscrew.

I missed out on first by a second for the Ford focus one.

 

Just had a go at the Mazda I lost by 3.095 on my first attempt. I put TC at 1 and SFR on to give my self a fighting chance.

Yeah, I tried with TC on 2 and SFR off, got to 9th this time but still 44 seconds off first place.

Looks like SFR might be the way to go.

 

What lap times are you getting? I was hovering between 59-1:02 laps.

I think lap times of under 1:01 will be needed to catch it.

I got second at the start of lap 8, and at some point the last placed car gets in the road.

the reason it is so hard is cause it is so fun, my car was drifting on its own through the first few corners so i got sucked in to drifting round all the hairpins, gonna spend a bit more money and try again

I turned TC off and lowered the transmission for my next run which I ended up 2 seconds behind.

I had another run right after, caught him first corner final lap won by 5.8 seconds. I had to do low 1 minutes to do it.

Not sure what planet you are on, but the Nascar event is bull5hit.

 

I finished with the same split time I started with... 14 minutes of my life wasted on a retarded concept of an event and now I cant even sell the car.

 

Yet ANOTHER brilliant thing about GT5

 

(waits for fanboys to jump in defending GT to the death.... how dare I speak ill of their beloved game which can do no wrong)

i also struggled with the nascar, managed to get up to 10th but that was it and barely made any inroads into the gap.

Could really do with some setup help as i figure that must be the problem as you can't do any enhancements to the car. Any advice would be awesome!!

I've been slugging away, best I can get is 6th place... and my head feels like its about to explode after it... the amount of rage-restarts I have had is incredible... My housemates are also thinking I have developed tourettes.

 

I'm also curious to the power output and weight of each vehicle to see if they are actually all the same.

Well I did the 4h Nurburgring the other day so the track is still fresh in my mind..

 

I used the Tony Stewart Impala:

850bhp

1565kg

Aero 33, 53.

Top speed 390km/h - could go lower

LSD 10, 40, 20

Suspension

Height 0, -15

Spring rate 18.5, 19.0

Dampers C 9, 10

Dampers E 4, 4

Anti roll bars 6, 7

Camber 0, 0

Toe 0, 0.02

Brakes 2, 2

 

SFR on; can make these events easier.

TC 1

ABS 1

 

Their settings I used, i think there left over from doing B-spec NASCAR at Grand valley.

Well... my experience with these events is... usually even a fairly average driver if they alter the weight and HP as much as they can (with some ride height and transmission tweaking), can get 6th to 3rd in most races... that doesn't sound that good, but it is still really useful money (compared to what you put into the car) and really, really useful experience.

 

What really seperates the men from the boys is getting 1st place, and sadly when it comes to race sims, I am just a boy... (never have been very good at getting Gold license tests)... so if you are finding you can't place well, even with all the modifications required, you have to ask yourself if it is worth the time invested just to get Gold?, or even Silver or Bronze?

 

Unless you are a complete perfectionist in the game, I don't see the point in rage quitting about Seasonal Events... just take the cash and xp you can, and move on...

Had another go at the Tsukuba RX7 one. Turned SRF on, turned TC off, still could only manage 7th. 28 seconds off first. My laps were 1 02.5s, so I'd have to be doing 59ish second laps to get there........ impossible in the car I'm using, I was pushing as hard as I could. Clearly some Rx7s are better than others, avoid the Type R-S (FD, J) '95.

i bought the best premium one, my average lap time was 1:00 (they were all that time except the 1st and last laps which were 1 second slower and faster)

I'm glad these events are more lenient then the Licenses as I can understand when I ram the computer in the rear end, but absolutely hated getting disqualified from being hit or just side scraping the AI.

i was spinning out in the nascar event and was still ultimately catching the leader, but i rage quit cause i knew i wasnt going to win

also, after i beat the rx7 race 2nd try, it required me to buy a spoiler and rigidity improvement on top of what i already had. i did 1 lap of 1:01 and 1 lap of 0:59 and the rest were 1:00

I was surprised at how well the AI's handled the NASCAR on that track considering their performance in the championship, but I quit three time before I did it for the same reason I would be impatient and push a pass and spin out.
