Someone please re-assure me

[ Edited ]

Noted these two trailers posted on Gametrailers.. I seriously hope all physics, collision damage is turned off in these samples  the railing corners on the wall still exists with no turn into walls (ie getting stuck and losing speed)... (I want something somewhat realistic)

It looks like Noob mode is on with racing line and brakeing points, but I was hoping even in noob mode you wouldnt be able to rail the outside walls. (motocross berm style ;-)

Shift did it well, getting turned into barriers when you hit them.. Shift was just too soft on the grass... Ie you just gassed it over grass,

This one seems a little better..(or is it my imagination).. still no dmg.

Re: Someone please re-assure me

In the first video, (didnt watch the second) it appeared as though damage was off and standard physics + driving aids were on. The player was also driving a 4WD car so it was quite a muted demo.

The car in the demo is a premium model, and all premium model cars will be affected by damage, both cosmetic and mechanical. Damage can be turned on or off in the options. There will be approx 200 Premium cars. Standard cars will suffer from mechanical damage, but will only show minor scratches on the cosmetic side of damage. There will be approx 800 standard cars.

I imagine these show floor demos of GT5 will have the options dumbed down to give players a quick experience of the game. And most of the players in the videos will be journalists, which will be more concerned with looks and playability rather than how the physics model works and if hitting a curb at this angle will affect the car in the correct way etc...I wouldn't be coming to any conclusions on GT5, or any other racing sim based on gameplay videos from the web, it very much is a personal thing how the game feels to you when your driving it.
