Ok so getting settled slowly and thinking about a wheel, choices seems to be fanatec carrera wheel or a g25/27 possibly....any reccomendations ........(must have clutch)

I can only speak for the G27, as that is the wheel of choice for me. I have well documented issues with it, and I've posted plenty of stuff regarding those issues here, and elsewhere. If you're interested I will post the link here. Or you could just do a search for G27 on this forum.
Regardless of those issues, if I ever had to replace my G27, I would get the same again, and use my old one for spares.
cheers

I was going to say something similar, Fink10, but then I thought he already has his budget figured out and is looking at the only two worthwhile wheels available at that price.
As for picking one over the other, even I would have to sit down and weigh them carefully. Both are good wheels for the money, but I think the Fanatec is the only one with any pedal options available.

I have the G25 and have had it for years its been great.
both G25 & G27 have a clutch.
But if I were to replace it I would be looking at the Thustmaster t500 rs and the TH8 H gate gear lever.
personally i dont like the Fanatec no H gate shifter.

I was recommended the G25 and went for that
I went for this as i can use 3 methods of changing gears.
1. H-Shift for majority of Road Cars
2. Sequential Shifting for Rally Cars
3. Paddle Shifting for Super Cars
Full Clutch versatility with the H Pattern box up to 6 speed + Reverse
Plenty of these G25's on Ebay and online auction sites now, at reasonable prices.
Whatever you decide, i would suggest dropping out the pedals and reversing them.
Just like a real car, drop-down pedals, more fun, more feel to the game i think also.
Have Fun

I was thinking of upgrading my steering wheel myself.
Currently use the thrustmaster (not the amazing one) just the simple one. This one infact:

It's ok. I mean it works alright. Although no force feedback on the PlayStation 3 and it hasn't got a great turning circle. Plus everytime I turn GT5 on I have to change settings for the wheel to make it more sensistive.
Anyway I had my eye on the official GT steering wheel, the one from Logitech. This one:

Looks quite nice and 900° turning circle with amazing force feedback (or so I heard). Although some of you guys mentioned that new thrustmaster which might be good alternative. The g25 wheel though, a quick google and it is coming up at £495. That is way over my budget
I'm more after a £50-£60 bargain for a top of a range wheel.
I'm sure I can get it somewhere.
What do you guys use as a the wheel's stand btw? I assume you don't just use your laps lol.

I don't know your local prices, but the Logitech wheel is now the cheapest and lowest quality starting point of good quality wheels. If you can wait and save up for a Fanatec model or G27, then do it.

You thought about getting this kind of set up MastrGT:

I have a strong suggestion for you. If you are one to appreciate reviews then head over to Inside Sim Racing because they have excellent reviews on the wheels you are considering. these reviews will no dought help you with your decision. Plus Jessica is "hot"
