I know I did, and I loved it. Played all the GT's since.

Anyway, my point is, everyone complains about the lack of "supercars" in the modern GT5, but dont understand when people tell them that the game was originally focused on street cars.

I wonder if these are new people to the series, and dont understand its roots.

id say they might be newbies.

when i saw GT1 i thought it would be totally crap like all racing games, but i was proven wrong.

i couldnt get over how good it was for back then, since that time all racing games have tried to offer the same experience but cant really do it.

it has evolved so well in 15 years.

Absolutely amazing game.

I remember chucking my first ever school sickie, just to stay home and play it.

I went into all the races and did qualifying, wrote down all the times required to get 1st, and then sought out cars to buy to beat the race.... great fun.

I also remember doing racing mods to just about every car in the game.... soo much fun, and so ahead of its time. SSR11 I miss you.......

How could anyone not play it, it was the start of this worldwide driving simulator.

There are people who were born after 1997 playing this game, most likely they wouldnt have played it.

Even people born in the 90's may not have played it.

It would explain why so many people are obsessed with the "lack" of Hypercars in th game.

I'm a child of the early 80's, and the only GT game I've played is the PSP version.

(I'm more of a kart driver than a real sim driver)

But you dont complain about the lack of 'xyz' car on a constant basis, so I am not going to judge too harshly.

I wish they would put GT on the PS Store. Id love to get back into it, but dont have a PS available.

gran turismo 1 and 2 were fantastic

Still play GT2 a fair bit on my Xperia Play, great for long trips.  Curse you bus, curse you!  (Find it pretty hard to race while being on a bus; maybe just me however)
