Re: The Suggestions Box

I more than sure that he ws talking about the drag racing ingame. IRL without a doubt its not an easy discipline at all, but in game (e.g. LFS) its only down to setup and reaction.

Re: The Suggestions Box

Drag racing is not a sport that needs driver skill, it's all down to luck and reaction times. The motors blow up when they want to and the front wheels are barely touching the tarmac for them to keep it in a straight line, why do you think they get out of throttle when the car turns to one side in a race.

Re: The Suggestions Box

Have you ever taken part in a drag race in RL, Line? It needs a lot of skill to change gears right and the physoclogical pressure is very high. Starting right, not damaging your car, takes A LOT of skill...

That's my point...in an Arcade game Drag simply wouldn't work (they tried it in that game "Raceway" by Midas Interactive), but this is GT we're talking about. Polyphony could create a really accurate and challenging simulation of Drag events, right down to the physics stress on the tyres and the g-forces and wind resistance.

Drag, if done properly (read: if done by PD) could be one of the most exciting and spectacular race sims ever made!

Re: The Suggestions Box

they pulled drag racing out of GT2 in last week or so before its release.Thats why nobody can get 100% in game and it also explains why the drag cars are there too.
You probably all knew this anyway, but I just thought I'd say

Re: The Suggestions Box

It's be nice to have a bigger Skid Pan in GT5 and be able to make your own layouts for Auto Cross events.

Being able to have a track maker full stop would be excellent. For Aracde mode of course, not for the game...Rallies, straights long enough to make speed record runs and stuff. It would be awesome to have a track maker.

V Rally 2: Championship edition (On PSOne) had a track maker (Though you were limited to length), so i dont see why the PS3 cant handle it. You could have hills, jumps, long curves for testing, tight twisty tracks...everything your mind could come up with. It would be awesome!

I often thought about a track maker and I too think it would be awesome. You'd be able to copy any tracks not in the game, that you would really like to have in the game anyways

Re: The Suggestions Box

lol oh shut up, you know what I mean by 'point-to-point' :smileytongue: Incorrect Ben...have you ever seen Drag Racing in action? There's the staging duel, where you pull up to the startline and you have to get the distance perfectly right, not go over the line or anything, while trying to psyche out the other driver...then there's the lights, you have to nail them to make sure you don't foul yet get a good start...then there's the gearing on the straight and avoiding whieelspin or dropping cylenders, not to mention keeping the car in a straight line for the length of the road! They could even put in a manual parachute system that you have to activate correctly too. Plenty of potential there. I have actually, i went to the FIA meet at santa pod and talked with one of the drivers, The cars don't have gears they have a centrifugal clutch which releases the power gradually as the cargoes faster. The lights are also never random, they are always sumet like .125 from amber to green. btw whats so hard about pulling a lever? PS LFS is in no way arcadey, the only difference to RL is the starts whereby you don't have to get into stage, which is possibly how it would be on GT, however the new patch on lfs means you have to get off the line yourself relying on your reaction times rather than holding the pedal to the floor like it once was.
