Re: Tuning Marketplace!

Re: Tuning Marketplace!

I can't get over this problem of spining while accelerating usually on a gentle bend, it starts accelerating slowly then a touch more then I'm off. other cars seem to accelerate much harder so it is probably me doing something wrong as usual, lol. Was good to try them though.

Re: Tuning Marketplace!

Hey Crow,

The DB9 ( sorry back tracking a little on the thread ) The S bends and the top of the hill.

The set up you gave me doesn'tt work well with the gear ratio's as from the stock set up, you can leave the DB9 in second from the 1st corner all the way to the top of the hill. As for spinning at the top, don't change gear until you've got to the crest, ease the power on and it's fine.

I'm finding the DB9 you rarely have the power on full on the corners you have to feather it , but stick with it it IS competitive.

Last night i wrote down my results on Suzuka with it, here goes

1-4th /12 until eased off track

2 -6th - but kept falling off myself

3 - 8th /12 shunted from here to eternity!!

4 -6th /12

5 - 5th /12

6 6th /9

Generally i was 4th/5th by the end of the 1st lap as long as i wasn't bardged anywhere

At the end of the day though there are better cars for Suzuka but given the chance this is a competititve car for the circuit.

Games i've got GT5, GTA, COD4, F1, Medal of honor airbourne. Feel free to add my PSN if you play any of the above online but in the friend invite let me know which game it is your interested in playing online with me. PSN - blitzburghpete

Re: Tuning Marketplace!

Crow,

Let me go into more detail about the DB9 around Suz.

I do find it “racey” enough to compete, challenging, and I always feel I could get more out of it, if I’m allowed to race clean.

Here’s my set up.

Pow: +3
Wght: 91
Ride Hght: -15/-15
Spr: 2/2
Damp: 2/1
Toe: -0.2 / +0.5
camber: 0.4 / 0.3
Br: 5 / 4
St: 38
Tract: 1
ABS:1

I've not put the gears as they suit me fine as they are not as the tuned version. I've stiffened the suspension hence tuned downed the toe/camber settings.

I’ve noticed a big difference in having 1 – or nothing in traction control, and having it at 1 makes a great difference in pulling away from the start line, to keep you near the Audi’s and other 4wd cars you’ll get online. You will loose places at the start but stick with it.

3rd gear down to 2nd for the 1st bend, then keep it in second for all the s’s. Now the reason I say this is I KNOW you can go faster if you can handle it, by constantly changing up and down 3rd/2nd through the S’s but sticking in 2nd, checks the speed just a tad to the right amount to keep you very tight and neat on the racing line that means your really hard to pass yourself but you still gain on the others. ( I’ll get back to this later )

Because your keeping things under control and tight in second, YOU’LL be the one darting up the insides of all the other drivers going just a little too fast exactly as you will do in the last S class races in the GT game itself.

The last s, coming to the crest you have to have to be careful, to bring the power on, but keep the nose pointing straight and you’ll be in 3rd and pulling away.

The next tricky corner is after the hairpin, there is  fine line between keeping full power on and loosing it mid corner, something you need to practice, but the most crucial part of the lap is making sure as you come into spoon you have it straight, as the slightest wobble here, and it does wobble, sends you straight off. This is the corner and the reason I have the spring down low as it checks the wobble into spoon.

2nd for spoon then blast down the hill. The rest is as per most cars.

The DB9 doesn’t brake the best, accelerate the best or have the best top speed, but it does do all of these in spades, which means you’ll always be there or there about’s  if you can keep it on the road or not get shunted off, which if you start near the front of a race, and your taking off slower than the others, is inevitable come the first corner.

I find the strength of the DB9 is the control into and out of the corners, it responds really well, and accurately under braking and speed. Because of that I do pretty much most of my overtaking, nipping up the inside of everyone in the S’s or entering spoon, then holding the position as the DB9 lets me keep it tight.

I loose places at the crest of the hill if I get it wrong there, breaking for the hairpin, and braking for the last cicane, but now I realise this is where the car and me are  weaker than the others, I am adjusting my lines to make it really hard to get past me at these points.

Thing is I like the DB9 as it suits my style of driving and I’m finding that there ARE differences in driving styles, for the cars and circuits. Last night in the DB9 online at Suzuka most races were with 12 I was always somewhere between 4th-9th, mainly finishing 6th, but never once having a race where I wasn’t pushed off at some point, and here’s the real problem with driving it. Because the DB9 hasn’t got the brakes of other cars, and more flat speed, you'll have to brake earlier than most into the corners, which means you get shunted soooooooooo many times by the later braking cars. This is why I rarely have a clean race and struggle to get higher than 4th, NOT because it lacks speed. I’ve noticed when I race Suz with the F430’s and 350Z I’m do well as long as i keep it on the track.

I’m very much a flow, smooth driver, which doesn’t do me well on the tricky twisty stop start circuits, ( Eiger and London ) and for example last night on HSR, in the clio, in 5 online races always finished 1st or 2nd. That car and that circuit suits my style. In one race for 3 laps on HSR  I had a GT guy on my tail, but because I was smooth, steady, tight, eased the power, as I do every circuit, he couldn’t get past, even in the wide corners and straights.

Anyway the DB9, yeah I know there are faster cars for this circuit Suzuka, in the 4wd cars, just for me and my style this car at least keeps my in the game.
