I'd like to see every single full circuit racing track in the world. Not just the mainstream circuits. Or at least continually provide all these tracks through DLC. I'd be particularly excited to see all the Australian circuits in the game. I know it's a lot to ask but hey.
I just see GT5 as the pinnacle in racing simulators. I think by providing all these circuits in addition to the huge library of cars this will sell the game and guarantee the PS3 dominance.

first thing i would like to see is this game being released
then i would like to see damage, i mean real damage, like if you prang a wall by mistake then you break the suspention or bend the steering, or break downs that could occur later in the race after a heavy hit at the begining, after all this is suposed to be a racing sim.
oil temps,
fuel levels, (i know it was there in prev gt's but didnt really serve any real purpose)
tire warmth and ware(no guning it into the first corner expecting the car to handle the way it would after a couple of laps) and black spots after locking the breaks
saftey car,
drive through penalties for online gaming (to stop the demolition durby racers)
body kits and spoilers with aero dynamic effect
sponsership to increase profit from race wins, so fo eg if you pick up a sponser or ten, then you get an extra amount of money ontop of the winnings.
if u don't mind the fact that it's an arcade racer you can get half of that in NFS: U2

OMG why is the online still filled with stupid *****. I'd really like to play this game more but after waiting 5 minutes to get into a race it sucks to be shunted off the track or awarded a penalty for some guy t-boning your car...
Edit: add to that the stupid *****s who've learnt which corners you can cut!

I would like to see a few more championships added like WRC and NASCAR were. Examples would be some F3 euroseries Formula Renault as well as some GT series'.
Is it just me that thinks having NASCAR in GT5 is an awesome coup for Sony. Just think how many more consoles they will sell in US would be huge.

Nascar is definately an unexpected surprise. Should be fun in an online mode, as the whole aim of Nascar is to screw over your opposition

I owned and played GT1 is still one of my favorite games due to really feeling right when driving.
I played GT2 and it was still great.
I didnt get to play much of GT3 but it seemed great as well.
Didnt know there has been a GT4.
Will preorder GT5 based on it still having splitscreen mode.
I have 3 Major things that have to be kept the same in GT5 as originals. and some minor cool things that could be good.
1) I have seen an incredibly bad trend in games on PS3 and XBOX 360 lately, where there is no multiplayer/splitscreen games on either console, worst yet seen some games that are still splitscreen on Wii come out single on PS3.
Recently heard from numerous shops that GT5 will be single player on consol and only multiplayer online, if it is I will sell my PS3, this trend for the most powerful console has to stop.
Don't get me wrong I am for online play, playing in racing teams is great, but seriously the consoles main point of view is that people can come around and play with you, otherwise its just a weak computer. Say no to single player console games, no wonder why simple Wii with tacky motion sensing has outsold its two competitors...
SPLIT SCREEN FOR THE NEW GEN OF BIG TV's WIN's
2) No nonsense, from what I remember of the GT series there was never a line on the road that showed you where to go and brake etc, you work out your own best racing line from objects on the track and keep it a secret. Also no braking and turning assist in cars that would never have this technology, it makes the games boring and not fun, if the cars are as true to life handleing as what I rember from GT1-3 then that should be all you need, along side skill.
NO ASSISTS IN CARS THAT WOULD NEVER HAVE OR NEED THEM
3) As mentioned above keep it true to life is best. I preordered NFS SHIFT for PS3, while I wait for GT5 to come out. I played it a bit to have a look before I decided to take it back due to being a one player game. Being NFS I didn't expect it to be great SIM like GT series has been, and it had all the tacky crap like mentioned in point 2. Worst of all the car always spin out backwards to face traffic and there was no ability to correct it, like in real life or GT sim. Worst of all when changing to reverse gear it made you wait some unnecessary time for it to change into gear, all crap I am sure GT wont even have to address based on past experiences. I love the wheels wearing and stuff like that, shows GT is thinking about what each wheel is actually doing on the track all the time.
MINOR THINGS
*I might get gunned down for saying this, but fuel ussage could be interesting, especially for long races and pit stops.
*Good damage simulation, where stuff breaks on the car etc cuasing the effects in certian areas, such as some rally game I recently played.
*Some awesome online multilayer thing, maybe championships run thought the year/s... and online sponsorships?
*Open world is not preferred for GT, as its a NFS thing, GT is about racing on the track and many like it this way, NFS is a Arcade game and its great that way. (do one thing and do it best, do multi things and it becomes like every other racing sim that sucks)
*as mentioned before, chosing your own music is great.
Overall BRING IT OUT SOON, if you cant add the minor things make sure the major 3 are covered and release.

@UltraAI - Your missing out not playing GT4, go grab that game now! Easily tide you over till GT5 and only 30bucks! Best Racing game of last generation hands down!
1)GT5 has been confirmed to be Single Player, Split Screen 2 Player and up to 16 Player online.
2) The Racing Line and other Assists are there to help new players get a grip on Simulation racing and have fun with the game. In saying that, unlike other games, Gran Turismo has these features turned off by default. There is also two levels of Physics in the game, a choice of 'Standard' which is an evolution of GT4 physics, and 'Professional' a much more brutal and unforgiving realistic physics engine.
Minor things:
-Fuel Usage has been in since GT4 (can't remember it being in GT3 but its been a while). Heavier Fuel loads affect weight, which in turn affects tire wear and lap times. Also Mechanical Damage confirmed for GT5, so looking after your car in endurance races is a must as you can wear out your car over the course of a race and handling is affected as parts wear and break.
-Online is to be expanded over GT5Prologue but little details have been announced. Things like saving replays and uploading them to YouTube is confirmed. Private races with a variety of options are also in, but details are still vague at the moment.
-Custom Soundtracks is in GT for PSP and will likely feature in GT5, Can't remember if it has been confirmed yet but I have heard that that feature is in.
That info is off the top of my head so may not be 100% accurate as I didn't go double check before I posted, but it won't be far from it. For more info, head to www.gtplanet.net as thats where all my info comes from.
