There are plenty of games offering that already, GT5 is for the more pure form of the modifying and racing scene - that is, actual racing with actual race cars, on actual race tracks / street tracks, performing more realistic modifications specifically for the track. This is they way it is, and will stay.
You should perhaps try something like Midnight Club LA for what you describe.
P.S, not everyone buys the hard core race cars to "rape" the tough events, especially me. I buy them so I can drive and enjoy them and master the handling of them, and compete against cars of a similar calibre.

Well to be honest, everything that has been mentioned is great but one thing ONE THING that like no one has done since the game V8 Supercars series died and is now Race Driver: GRiD,
Holden vs. Ford V8 Supercars
and
All Holden and HSV vehicles
And Ford... whatever lol anything you choose the Phase III GTHO 71' is a definite though
but out of all that Bathurst Raceway or Mt. Panorama Raceway (whatever its called)
Oh and the Vauxhall Bathurst the car that has to go in hands down.
: )

Sounds more like 'achievement ho' syndrome to me. I suggest you remove your 360 from your house for 2 weeks, and make no contact on internet forums. You'll then have to find a better hobby than playing games for a fancy number that shows how many games you rush through to enlarge your e-peen.
Good idea, yes?
If you really were playing Forza for fun, you'd bother to learn the tracks enough that you wouldn't make mistakes and spin. Using rewind only proves weak racing skills.
I say:
I absolutely agree!

so the official playstation magazine just printed a retraction on news that they 'officially confirmed' a while back - the IRL indy cars are NOT in Gran Turismo 5. have to wonder how much of the other stuff they 'confirmed' is also actually a lie.

You know, for someone who dogs the game at every opportunity he gets, you've been following the news pretty closely, as that was only discovered yesterday. Also, to answer you're question, I think the only other thing that wasn't previously confirmed in that article was day/night cycles and/or weather (having not seen the entire article myself, I can't really confirm). You would think that if they got that wrong they would mention that too in their announcement?

i really hope that they do
1.CHANGEABLE weather effects i.e. changing of weather DURING a race, so the players would pit for change of tyres etc.
2.the added use of a safety car, they had this in gt4 but only for licence tests, it would be awsum if they used it for a race
3.with the damage: if a car has too much damage, it would retire from a race, so in other words out of the 16 cars (or 12) only 8 or 7 would finish the race because of accident damage
hopes that all makes sense and are all reasonable wishes
