sounds like you guys need to go buy a 360 and forza, as its everything you guys want GT5 to be
one of my mates went and bought a 360 Elite + Forza 3 for $349 from ***** Smith this arvo. you heard me, $349. absolute bargain - console, 120gb hdd, hdmi cable thrown in, headset, and forza 3 for $150 less than a PS3 with nothing else.
the customisation in forza 3 is second to none. bodykits, wheels, stickers - up to 1000 layers per side/top, engine swaps, drivetrain swaps..........its got everything a REAL racing simulator should. turn 10 didnt just chuck in 50 skylines, 50 evos, 400 daihatsu $hit-boxes that noone wants to drive, update the graphics and call it a day like polyphony are well known for doing. My man you have to start taking a commission from Microsoft, you're doing all the work for them!
I think he's asking for a bullet to the brain though. If there was ever a super troll, he/she/it would be my candidate.

GT5: 1,000 cars
Forza: 400 something
well he didnt, cause he didnt spend $50 more on 3 rubbish games that he doesnt want. he got a 360 elite, which is all he wanted because his 360 red ringed that day and he was going to pick up Modern Warfare 2 that night so he wanted another console straight away. hes selling Forza 3 for $50, so that means he gets an elite for $300. he already has forza 3 btw, and now he has Modern Warfare and a brand new elite to play it on. when he gets his broken 360 back from microsoft - fixed for free - hes got a buyer already set up. he wins.
also, your car figures should be like this:
GT5: 100 cars, 70 of them are <60hp $hit-boxes, with a further 900 different colour variants of them.
Forza 3: 400 unique cars, no <60hp $hit-boxes.

don't feed the troll... don't feed the troll...
...but WHY do people feel the need to bash a particular product in order to compliment the other? Oh, I know, insecurity. Having never played Forza 3 (but I'd like to, I'm sure it's fun) I wouldn't bag it in order to make GT5 look good, but you clearly haven't played GT5 yet, as it is not finished, and you are still bashing it in order to ramp up Forza, its pathetic.
Anyway, I won't be getting Forza as I have played previous versions and thought they were pants compared to GT, that, and I do not own a 360. Thats it.
Just remember - when you need to grossly over-exagerate the facts (colour variations, models etc) in order to make a product look inferior then in fact you have no point at all, and everyone out there reading it just knows you're just a sad fan boy.
We'll see who's saying what when the real driving simulator releases in March, eh?

it would be funny if i was entirely joking about the colour variants, but the sad thing is that it was only half a joke - they did actually indeed have new 'models' of cars in the other gran turismos, which counted twice in their 'number of cars' list, that were simply different colours. the 'midnight purple' GT-Rs come to mind. then there was the fact that there was, for another example, every single year model of WRX, in both wagon and sedan, even though between half of those years pretty much nothing changed apart from slight adjustments to the front bars. that gave about 20 'different' car models, when we really couldve had 3 and gotten the same end result.
i dont need to 'ramp up Forza' - the game, and the reviews, do that by themselves. it really is just that good. im just glad that i get to play it, then also get to play GT5 when it comes out. based on Prologue, GT doesnt stand a chance honestly. sure it will sell more than Forza 3, but it will do it in the same way that they could release Halo: Horse Riding Adventure and it would sell 10 million - blind fanboys.

GT5 looks set to be a really good game and you haven't said anything to convince me it "doesn't stand a chance" against Forza. Besides being on different consoles and clearly appealing to different types of players they're really not in the same market anyway.
Seems to me like people buy Forza because they're into the modding & car customisation scene, or aren't hardcore into sim racing probably coming from an arcade racing background and want to be eased into it gently. I still find it blasphemous that there's a mode in Forza which will do all the braking for you, at that point why are you even playing the game? I know you'll say these are just extra choices and people can turn them off straight away if they want and I agree but I'm just saying this shows how the games are going after different audiences.
For me GT5 is the clear choice. Not only because it will have more cars (yes I know there will be doubles & some sameness but regardless) but also because the PS3 and PC are the only platforms supported by Logitechs wheels and having playeda tonne of racing games with a controller I'm ready to make the switch to using a wheel. Also whatever you might say about framerates (your pet peeve obviously) GT5 will undoutedly look superior.
Anticipating your inevitable reply I'd just like to say don't talk about damage modelling at all because I really don't give a toss about it.

i dont understand how people can keep saying this, that Forza is more of an arcade game and less of a sim.
Forza 3 is MUCH more of a simulator than any GT released to date. theyre simulating things that GT can only dream of, like tyre flex and chassis flex. everything is simulated 360 times per second, and they even got deals with real racing teams and tyre manufacturers to use their data to make their simulation engine more realistic. the tuning side of Forza 3 is incredible, being able to individually tweak nearly every part, and swap out every part, and you can actually feel the differences like you can in a real car.
i think most forza fans are people that come from Gran Turismo, and wanted to give another simulator a try - cause there was only GT on consoles before Forza - and are pleased with what they found. i know thats what happened with me and my mates.
there is no 'mode' in Forza that has autobraking. its an option, much like you can turn aim-assist on for most first person shooters. its there so even a 5 year old kid could play and have fun in a game that previously they would be completely left out in the cold. how is making the game more accessible to more people WITHOUT sacrificing anything for the 'hardcore' a BAD thing? these arent things that everyone that plays the game has to turn OFF - if you want them on, you have to go and turn them on. off by default.
Forza 3 feels like youre driving real cars. GT looks like youre driving real cars, but feels like youre driving cars on ice.

Don't forget that you can press the trigger button and rewind any time you make a mistake... ![]()
I must play some more Forza 3 though soon... too many games at the mo, and not enough time.... ![]()
