I don't have the G27, but I do have its predecessor and I have used various wheels throughout most of my GT driving.
A wheel is designed to feed certain information about what the car is doing to your brain, so that you can deal with it. Therefore, a wheel is not designed to feel like a real wheel in a real car. A wheel is there to help you understand what your car is doing now.
Is it worth buying an expensive wheel to gain this info that can't be gained in the same way from a vibrating controller?
It was for me.

Hey all I'm new to the forum and PS3 And I'm just after some advice . Is the G27 worth it ? I'm really enjoying GT5 and I Whould like to take it up to the next level but I don't want to buy one then regret it 3 month down the line. what do you guys think of the wheel does it work well with GT5? Sorry if someone has started this topic but I could not find any thing on it and I'm getting mixed reviews Thanks Jon
IMHO, a steering wheel is well worth it. Mine also is the predecessor (G25). You will find it works with virtually all driving games and really enhances the experience. It also is excellent for use with the PC.
The most recent driving game that doesn't have wheel support is Driver: San Francisco unfortunately.

Thanks for the replies I think I will go ahead and order a g27 then as they look excellent
Im a bit disaponted about Driver not supporting any wheels at all .I think i will just stick to GT5 an TDU2
Thanks again ![]()

I also have a G25, couldnt fault it one bit works on everygame, excellent quality, use it every day and its never gone wrong. Enahnces the experience to no end ![]()
A word of warning though i found on TDU2 that the wheel support was crap. Unless its been patched there was no clutch support and the car physics were catastrophic. would turn into a bend at 20 lift off and the car would do a 180 spin for some reason, you are much better buying an old copy of TDU for PC and modding it as will all the mods on that game the sky is the limit

Used my G25 since 2006 or there abouts, still going strong.
As above you will find that most games will not feel as correct to use your G27 with as GT on the PS3.
PC games are much more configurable with the Logitech than within a console but for PS3 usage you will not go wrong with a G27 i'd imagine.

I only tried tdu2 on the pc and the wheel support is bad but if you can pickup a cheap copy of dirt2/3 they seemed to work good and its nice to have a change from all the race track driving![]()

It works with TDU2 great but there is no provision to pan left & right (G25) so pulling away from junctions/intersections is a little risky. There is just not enough buttons on the G25 but the G27, I note has extra buttons on the wheel so possibly, this is not an issue. The panning function requires the L3 function. On the plus side, you will be able to use the H shifter + clutch with TDU2.
