Re: Will Gran Turismo 5 dissapoint?

I think sometimes dude can forget what PD have really put into this, 5 years of hard work, eating, sleeping, living in the studio if the pics are to be beleived. The we want this or that doesnt look right brigade need to realise how much these guys have done over the years to give us there best work over the last 10 years. Its not been perfect or something has been left out, but PD have still given us something special.

How many PS2 games are still being played now??

Who would have thought that in GT5p after 2.5 years we would still be ringing the last drops of life out of 5 tracks 70 odd cars and a non user friendly online system!

Re: Will Gran Turismo 5 dissapoint?

I don't think GT5 will disappoint at all, people say it's just GT5p but with slight adjustments such as 1000cars, tyre marks, horn, online lobbies, physics, 3D, head tracking, perfection, rally, F1, nascar, 70 tracks?, etc etc.

I'm still enjoying GT4 on the PS2 so if they game me that but in HD with the few extras I would be happy.

Forza is a great game, It's been out for a fair while now so there is no need to compare it to GT5. One thing I will say though is that Forza is more 'fun' than GT5. It may be down to the silly online game modes or the sense of an arcade racer, but it is good fun. I won't slate Forza as it is the best consoler racer out now and has been a great way to kill time waiting for GT5.

( Shame I own a DFGT + WSP for the PS3 and not the 360 as Forza would have been even better)

I will be gutted if GT5 is only a bit better than Forza after all this waiting.

I think it will impress due to the epic amount of time and detail put in. More than most games i would say.

Re: Will Gran Turismo 5 dissapoint?

If you race in real life on a track then, I would expect you to vie for GT all the way because GT itself is born on the track...the executive producer - Yamauchi-san is a real life track racer so he knows exactly how his game should feel when it simulates racing...I really do not see how street racing with stock builds comes into it for u??? GT has always been about closed circuit, full-on track racing where both spheres that the game so awesomely represents - Street and Track cars come together to race...it caters for everyone and everything - hopefully there'll be more cosmetic modification possibilities in GT5 for all cars too...custom body kits for certain road cars for example from Veilside, Trial, Amuse, etc which have been represented in the game for a long time...

Re: Will Gran Turismo 5 dissapoint?

Yes, Polyphony has put so much hard work, dedication, unprecedented skill and love into every GT title and more so now for their biggest game GT5 - it's something that I truly appreciate, admire and cherish because that's where true quality and lastability come from for games...anything for that matter...I don't think anyone would have the right to dis their work because clearly, it's turned out truly impressive results - look at the official website's content covering the development process - the fact that GT5 itself wasn't the only title that PD worked on (GTPSP, Prologue, GTHD, etc) during this waiting period alone should tell you how intense game development on this scale is - I don't think that many people realise that unfortunately but, game development is no walk in the park...and in this case, Sony is the publisher so they decided to push the release date back from March this year to November but, Yamauchi-san said that he likes that because, it gave him more time to add everything he wanted into the game which is for us fans' good...awesome...

In fact, it's so impressive that two of my close friends who are Forza fanatics have started to admire Gran Turismo and one of the brothers are going to buy a PS3 before November mainly for the purpose of GT - now that is testament right there :smileyvery-happy:

I'll take a simulation of real life over any arcade game. Simulations I can relate to and liken to real life examples or experiences, Arcade games are all about escapism and fantasy. I have sunk more 'gaming' time into simulations than any other genre, starting with MS Flight Simulator.

I don't suspect many around these parts would find enjoyment in planing a real time 747 flight from London to Sydney, calculating fuel requirements, course corrections, departure schedules/permissions and then sit in the pilot seat for the entire flight.  Strangely I do.

Wow.  That must have been an amazing night!  I'm not here to diss others and I pity the fools that come on these forums to do just that ... however, your post caught my eye as it sounds like the least interesting thing anyone could dream up of doing over the course of 20 hours .... ever!  I would have found it more entertaining attampting to eat the innevitably HUGE manual that came with the "game".

Huge manual? yes but smaller that Falcon 4 (at 600 pages). :smileytongue: I do agree though, it's excessive but enjoyable. I mean taking flight classes in all areas of aviation and then the subsequent exams etc....all add to the end immersion and enjoyment, but that's my genre of enjoyment and if you think 20+ hours is bad, I won't tell you about my real-time patrols in Silent Hunter which last in excess of 30 days (obviously I have the luxury to save & exit).

I tend to use PC for real time simulations and consoles for quick fix actions.  Like I said though, GT5 falls in the grey area of the two, so I'll be happy as the proverbial pig.
