Re: disconnetion

I always had issues with staying connected on GT5.

I thought it was simply because my internet is so bad here. I was however not taking into account how poorly setup my PS3 was. I was simply connecting it to my router wirelessly, across the entire flat. Not a good idea. The best thing you can do if you're always getting disconnected is setup with a network (ethernet) wire, but a good one, a proper one to cope with gaming traffic. You need a CAT6 wire, or that's what I found. That's all I did, and I haven't dropped out since.

There's far more things you can do to make your connection more efficient, like putting the PS3 into a DMZ, but half of that stuff goes over my head at the moment, so I'm sure someone else can enlighten you with that.

Re: disconnetion

A CAT5e cable is usually sufficient, unless the cable's length is a concern or local interference is a problem.

If you go straight to CAT6, you may never know what solved your networking issues. CAT6 just may be overkill. However, a job done once is a job done right.
