Re: One Race in a Thousand...

Bathurst is a great race. One of my favourites of the year.

Never miss a GP either. I'm particularly looking forward to this years new tracks at Valencia and Singapore at night.

Re: Bathurst

It kinda gets me that Bathurst has never been featured in GT.

They featured the Ford Credit Racing team V8 Falcon Supercar in GT3 (fastest touring car of the game?) and then backed it up with the same car featured in GT4, even though it was 5 years old by that time. They also featured the Holden Monaro CV8, the Ford Performance Vehicles GT and Typhoon, but still no Australian circuits.

As it stands, I do believe Mount Panorama (Bathurst) is ranked on the world's top 10 permanent racetracks. Nordie is obvious, Daytona is another. Pikes Peak too is a masterful hill climb and then you've got your European legends like Monaco, LeMans, Monza, etc. But for sheer toughness, insane camber and elevation changes, it doesn't get much better than our national pride and joy. I'm sure some of you have raced on this circuit in games like TOCA, etc, which is a lousy representation of the real track. Imagine just how awe-inspiring it would be if PD got their hands on it....!

Re: Bathurst

Unfortunately it all comes down to licensing. They’ve had the same problem when it came to featuring certain manufacturers and even damage. Other games have been able to do it but never the GT series. Until now that is or at least when GT5 itself is released.

I do agree that Bathurst is one of the greatest tracks going and with the popularity that V8 racing has received in Europe through Motors tv I would hope that it makes it into GT.

Re: Bathurst

Yeah, Remy, the circuit around the mountain is actually a public road, open most days of the year, Conrod Straight is pretty heavily policed during the holiday season as a lot of hoons take the trip west of Sydney and visit the small town. They go for a fang around the mountain just to see how steep it really is and then they open it up down conrod, where at the bottom, a cruiser is waiting at the side of the road with an officer and a radar, hehe!

But for licensing purposes, it IS a licensed circuit (by AVESCO?), hence the very limited rights that you see in games. They only gave the licence out to TOCA gaming because TOCA was strongly marketed in Australia as V8 Supercars (that was the official title of the game) and featured a full grid of V8's and many Aussie circuits. Very doubtful whether licensing could be obtained unless PD put more of an Aussie 'spin' into the game, which would need to include first and foremost, more Holden and Ford cars (the Commodores, the Falcons etc).

It's a shame that PD don't have a great deal of recognition for the 'Group A' days of the 70's and 80's and even early 90's as one of the finest, if not THE finest Group A car to ever have lived was none other than Nissan's hallowed R32 GT-R. You would think that PD would provide a bit more of historical background as to why the Godzilla is the legend that it is and they can only do that by featuring some of the Group A cars the R32 raced against during it's heyday.

Would all that knowledge come from personal experience with the cruiser at the side of the road AERO? lol :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Bathurst

This is a real troublesome problem that I've just been given and after two hours of fiddling, I have no way around it....

I cannot sign in to PSN with my user ID and password. For some strange reason it keeps coming up with 'An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network.', before I've even signed IN.

I have setup a ghost account with different user ID and password and that seems to work fine, but I'll be literally devastated if I lose my AERO_HDT tag and have to start with a different one.

Anyone got any ideas on what the issue could be? I've switched off the system, switched it back on, gone back and forth between wired and wireless connections, reset the system.....

AHA!

I got it!

WOOHOOOOOOOOOO!

LOL what a waste of a post, sorry guys!

I had to re-enter my email address it appears!
