Backing them up to USB stick occasionally will go a long way, especially after achieving something that's been driving you nuts. I use and rotate 8GB SanDisk's. Like you I lost all my garage but a saved game and the Spa-Francorchamps Seasonal event came to my rescue and I was easily able to buy back the few expensive cars I'd lost. Funny thing was though, after copying across the last back-up, I lost about 147 horns somehow and when I deleted a doubled up Lotus museum card I managed to wipe out almost all of my cards!! Latest back-up appears to be stable enough. Better luck to us both in the future eh....
