not aving a go but.................

this is not as much a moan or a go. its just a kind of suggestion.

when you  upgrade to either of the sports, semi-racing or racing exhaust, the cars all sound the same, they dont sound like they wud if that car had that type of exhaust on in real life which is a bit of a shame.

the other day, i forgot wot car is was but its was an inline 4 cylinder 1.8 and i upgraded to the titanium racing exhaust and all of a sudded the car sounded as if it was a V8.

just wish PD had put just a tad more effort in and recorded what the car would really sound like with sports and racing back boxes on.

but overall, its amazin how much BHP increase there is when you upgrade to a Titanium Racing box.

Re: not aving a go but.................

Put a titanium exhaust on a R33 Skyline and one on a Civic type R and tell me if they sound the same :smileytongue:

Turbo blow off annoys me much more tbh.

Re: not aving a go but.................

oh the skyline is the only car that sounds like it should. theres loads of civic type r's round my end with big bore exhausts on and they sound nothing like that on the game. they ant even got that induction noise on the game like a Vtec has.

That'll be because none of those Civic Type R's where you live have racing exhausts. They produce sound and nothing else, those exhausts they bought and put on their cars are not very good at all, there are loads of people I have seen in my city and I listen to the sound their exhausts make and I think "that sounds nothing like a race car" and if they are lucky it added about 5 bhp at the very max.

A proper racing exhaust system sounds so different to the big bore stuff boy racers put on their cars.

Re: not aving a go but.................

theres one round my end with a race spec system that he had done by cobra sport, de-cat straight through stainless steel system with race back box. its loud as hell and sounds angry but it still not wot they sound like on GT5.

my brother got a Yaris on GT5 this morning, just a normal yaris and he put race exhaust on and it sounded like a skyline R34.

So the bloke spent over £20,000 on an exhaust system for a car you can pick up for £6,000? Sorry mate, but he is bulling you. You don't buy a Civic Type R (second hand assumtion with the £6,000 price tag I gave you) and spend so much on the exhaust. For £26,000 you can get far, far, far, far, far superior cars.

And if his Civic-R is the new model, then it casts even more doubt because with the best part £40,000 you would definately not buy a Civic Type R.

A full race spec exhaust system is mega bucks. He may have bought a system that has the word "race" somewhere on it, but it is extremely doubtful it is race spec. Also, I could put a big bore exhaust on my Flymo grass mower and it would sound beefy as hell.

Re: not aving a go but.................

You hit the nail on the head. Cars look brilliant, but the engine sounds...Particularly the V8's,they sound so weak, nowhere near snorty and brutal as a 5-7 litre race motor should sound.

Even (dare I say) NFS Shift gives a better impression of either a Throbbing V8 or screaming 4pot turbo than GT5 sad to say:smileysad:

Shift 2 has fantastic sounds (much better than GT5 imo), but the physics are horrendous.

Everything in GT sounds so clinical.

where in my post did i mention how much it costs? and i know its not a propper race spec exhaust, what i was trying to say is, its like race spec as in loud. its the loudest he could get it.

Re: not aving a go but.................

Angry V8's =

Ford Mark IV

Lexus ISF Racing concept

Mercedes C63

Shelby Cobra

Plymouth Superbird

Jensen Interceptor

Before judging the whole sound system, there is few factors that everyone should take a note on...

firstly, there is 3 upgradeable exhausts in the game, and 1031 cars in total, can anyone expect PD have tested every car with 4 different exhausts ?? while it's not only exhaust part that adjusts the tune, muffler does also. (2 parts more)

Secondly, as many V8 powered muscles on the legal roads, that are mainly rebuilded from a scrap, have more likely alreaydy "tuned" exhaust system, if you can see 2 identical corvette's from 60's, they wont sound the same, while in GT5 sounds are recorded from STOCK car.

thirdly, hardware acts a big part here, while sounds are in digital form, they hardly can repeat sounds exactly like in real life.

Forthly, some cars does sound the same, yes, but i believe it's mainly because they got tons of audiofiles in the disc, and some coding could have get mixed

Shift2 sounds are cool, but real, no.

I call those sounds ballsy, not real

Try out Cizeta V16 for example and compare that sound with the actual footage from that car

I can make holes in my exhaust system on my poor little Nissan Sunny and it would sound like a machine from H*ll, still wouldnt prove anything.
