"New Idea" to suggest to GT developers, do you like it?

I'm Italian, I'm sorry for my bad English but I like to use both normal cars and race cars. I think that in GT5 you can increase the performance of your normal car but it is difficult to transform it in a true race car. So, why the developers can't study a personal "race garage" where everyone can transform his loved car in a race monster? I love the Lotus Elise but the Race Car they propose for this model is not very attractive. I really love if GT users can have a "race garage" where they can prepare a car from the body of the car (like: enlarge the roadways of the car) and study aerodynamics. An example are the Need For Speed games, but less "tuning mania" and more technical approach (GT philosophy). Then the mechanics: starting from elaborating engine (it could be great if you can change the engine with another more powerful but heavier changing the balance of the car or change engine position), changing the traction system (from A/A to C/P or 4x4), changing suspensions system, changing brake system and more technical settings that are already provided in GT5. (An example is the Nissan GT-R for the Japan GT Championship where the traction change from 4x4 of the road model to C/P and the enginge is moved back) So your "race garage" could be visible from other online users and they can buy your cars and vote them. There could be awards for the best sellers and the top rated cars. Users may substitute the developers to "make cars" like the Touring versions in the first pack of cars.

I know that now is impossible to approach to GT5 but it could be real for a new version of GT or a big update.

What do you think? (I'd like to propose this idea directly to the GT developers but I don't find any contact)

Re: "New Idea" to suggest to GT developers, do you like it?

Welcome to the GT forum, t_most!

What you are proposing has been requested for many years, so by now, PD is well aware that some players want it, so we have to wonder why GT does not have something like this yet.

My best guess is that, with well over 1,000 cars, PD does not have the resources available to fully tackle the job. It may also be that PD doesn't think it fits in with their philosophy for GT, or they may be working towards that type of modification system, but they just aren't there yet.

Without PD saying why, we just don't know.

Thank you!

I know I'm not the first to request things like this and I'm happy of this. I know that there are more than 1000 cars but... who wants to transform a Daihatsu Midget? There are so many models of Skyline, Impreza, RX-7... They could start with the premium versions and slowly with some of the standard versions. The online game is very good... but has many limits. Hope that GT will become more complete... and PD listen to the players because I really don't know how a GT6 can have more than GT5!

Before PD works on letting us modify cars, they need to get the basics of the sim worked out first.

For example, there is no excuse for not having passworded on-line rooms, by now. Many other parts of GT5 are incomplete and that has made players leave our community because GT5 doesn't offer the right amount of normal things we need.

It really doesn't matter how fancy we can make our cars look if we can't control who gets into our on-line rooms.

I don't know about this thing! I don't use very much the online game because there are some players very, very strong and some very, very stupid!

You're right... and instead of a new car I prefer this changes in the next update! Hope PD listen to us!

This is something that you can fix. You don't need PD's help, either.

If you are not racing on-line, then you are missing out on the greatest part of GT life, so you need to deal with whatever about racing on-line that bothers you.

Probably the best change you can make is by joining a group of very good drivers who are willing to help you learn how to drive faster, to make you more competitive and comfortable being around better drivers. It takes time and effort to get better and it is very unlikely that you can do that on your own, while off-line.

So, look for the SFS all day event here and join in when you can. Race info will be on our top page. There will likely be a mix of drivers that will be fast and not so fast, but more importantly, they won't do "stupid" things. If you can, race with them every week and the net result will be that you will learn and gain confidence, to be a better driver. And have lots of fun, too. That's what you want out of GT, right?
