I just hope this does not allow people to trade game saves. Hopefully the patch will only allow the game save to be attached to "said" playstation ID

I'm more concerned about the hacking of the saved games.

Hopefully it's a combination of PSN lock and Encryption, something every game should use

Excellent, I'm guessing when I upgrade my 40GB PS3 to a 320GB PS3 when my new HDD arrives next week, I won't loose all that work!!! This has been something that's been playing on my mind : (

Welcome.

Although, be advised that you wouldn't have lost the Save file in the process of upgrading your HDD.  Provided you conduct a System Backup, and restore that to a HDD in the SAME PS3, all copy protected data is also restored.  Just for future reference, wot!
