You're all wrong - it was called Vice City because everyone who lived there had enormous, vice-like hands!

I hope they don't go down the same path again - I want a new city this time around. 

edit: I wonder why vice-presidents are called.. er.. vice-presidents.  Does it mean it's immoral and degrading to be a vice-president?

That also explains the loading screen you get when the PS2 version first boots up.

@big don we probably are both right, there's probably several reasons why they called it vice city.

as for the guy who mentioned the timeline on it. I'm hoping it will be modern. But if it is in the 80's I hope the cuban drug lords and italian mafia play as big a part in the game as they should.

It won't be called anything near GTA 5 V or IV, it will either be called gta: Vice city or GTA: Vice city 2, GTA vie city is not part of the main GTA games neither is sanadreas, more like spin offs or specials, GTA 5 will be set in Liberty city, and the next city may be a complete new one who knows, from what I can tell GTA vice city and sanadreas were on gta 1 and I tink 2 but they were all inthe same game if I can recall and weren't seperate, there isno pattern to say Vice city will be next or even come at all. Imagine clear sparkling water and the bright sun shinging on cars windows and building windows DD

to get things straight liberty city is new york city and part of new jersey,vice city is miami,los santos is los angeles,san fierro is san francisco and las venturas is las vegas.end of story!
