A GIGANTIC plot hole *spoilers inside*

If you're the origami killer, would you really be constantly thinking about how to find clues to find the origami killer? During the entire length of the game, Scott Shelby does.

Notice I said "thinking" and not "acting."

IIRC he was "finding" his evidence so he could destroy it.

Re: A GIGANTIC plot hole *spoilers inside*

Why don't the police have the evidence in the first place is the bigger question.

Or why is Shelby pointlessly investigating the senator when he knows he had nothing to do with it?

If Ethan has nothing to do with it why does he keep waking up with those origami figures?

How does Madison know who Scott Shelby is when the mother whispers it in her ear?

Why is there a dream sequence that has nothing to do with the plot?

Why did Heavy Rain get a BAFTA for Innovation and story when the plot makes no sense and its just cutscenes and quick time events that have been in games for decades?

And so on....

Totally agree with all those points, Occident.

How does Madison know who Scott Shelby is when the mother whispers it in her ear?

This had me really confused. Glad I wasn't the only one. I thought the game had completely missed a scene or something. It skipped alot throughout, so I put it down to that.

This is one of the plot holes that most people noticed in the game. Heavy Rain has quite alot including as the OP says, Shelby's thought's not matching his motivation or actual knowledge of the case.

I really respected Heavy Rain for bringing back the sort of gameplay you got from old point and click adventures and combining it with a story but there's plotholes all over the game.

Still L.A. Noire is out now and tries something similar, maybe that does a better job.

Not a bad game to be fair. I just feel that Quantic Dream were trying to be smart with their story which is a bit of a mess in places.

:smileyvery-happy: Yeah she used her cranial implanted iPhone to look him up instantly just so she could react to being told....actually I suppose that sounds stupid enough to have been in Heavy Rain.

Re: A GIGANTIC plot hole *spoilers inside*

One 'potential' explanation is in the Taxidermist DLC, it explains she has been looking into the case for 2 years. So it is fathomable that she has seen who Scott Shelby is.

However as pointed out, several plot holes.

I still loved the game though.
