Completed Game - "A Message to Quantic Dream"

[ Edited ]

Hello, any of you folks at Quantic Dream.  And David Cage specifically.

If you happen to read this, I want to congratulate you on such a magnificent production that I have had the glory of playing through and completing just a couple of hours ago.  I beat the game with all 4 characters alive and no repeated attempts through chapters, just my gut instinct alone and heart to do the right thing lead me out to what seemed like the best ending possible.

I want to tell you that I enjoyed your previous title, Indigo Prophecy very much and have been looking forward to Heavy Rain for about 1 year now ever since I happened on it by accident.  I was very impressed with what I just played and I want to encourage you guys VERY STRONGLY to continue games of this type of work.  I can't tell you enough how much your characters will be stuck in my mind now, and I'm only left craving more from them and the story.

The Origami Killer is something that should not be missed and after finding out who and what, I was left with just that much more emotion, I've never felt this in hardly ANY game.. only movies.

This is a deep change in gaming that I have personally felt and I hope you and many more folks out there continue this fantastic use of story-telling.

I want more.. I miss the characters already after the credits have rolled.. I don't want the story to end and I can't wait to see the episodes that you have coming out in the future.  I was actually supposed to get the Taxidermist in my Pre-Order, but my Gamestop must not have been participating.

But again.. Thank You Quantic Dream.  I can't convey enough to you what a fantastic job you people have done with this entire production.  Alot of heart and detail went with this hard task and effort.  Reguardless of the few loopholes in the story that can be looked past.. I thought this was one of the finest stories I have seen in a game ever.  I really hope alot of Developers out there take hold of this concept and run with it.

For any folks out there wondering about the game, buy it!!   And whatever you do!  Don't spoil it for yourself because not spoiling it is a HEAVY part of the experience!

I agree with everything in the previous post. Quantic Dream has been able to create a completely immersive interactive experience. It deserves its own genre as it is a very unique and unprecedented masterpiece. I know it sounds like I may be laying it on thick, but I can't help it. The characters, emotion, story have left an impression on me. I strongly hope that Quantic Dream is working on more games along this line.

When I read news that David Cage was not going to make a sequel, I must admit, my heart sank. I certainly look forward to any DLC and await any news at all on future projects. We need games like this. To anyone on the forums who appreciated Heavy Rain, you should post your experiences of the game here and hopefully someone from Quantic Dream is reading this.Who knows?

Re: Completed Game - "A Message to Quantic Dream"

I 100% agree with this. For years I have missed the games of old where the story was the driving factor and the graphics where built around this. I was getting tired of consoles and console games, as it was just the same button mashing boredom fom one game on to the next.

And then comes Heavy Rain. This is without a doubt my favourite game of all time. I am not sure if this is becuase you have brought back storytelling in such an astounding fashion, or if it just the best game ever devised.

I remember when I was younger and when I watched a film, I really felt part of it, I was the main charcter. Some how you have now brought this feeling back to the adult in me, which no film has been able to do. Every moment in the game I felt like I was there, it was an amazing experience.

So thank you, and I hope this landmark game is used as a catalyst to create a genre, as I want to play a heavy rain, every month. I cant even imagine how amazing a tell told horror could be, so please start work on that asap :smileyhappy: My only compliant is that I am now looking at play.coms coming soon list, and there is no longer anything I care about buying until we get your DLC and future games.

Re: Completed Game - "A Message to Quantic Dream"

Very well put, and I agree totally. It may also show other developers that gamers do want things other than First Person Shooters, and driving games. I've never been more disappointed that a game had to finish, although I was shocked at how bleak my ending was. Already going through it again. A total success, and also I would like to add that I experienced NO glitches at all. Very well done to everyone at Quantic Dream.

I really agree, i really hope they make more games just like this, using the same gameplay style and everything. I was really attaced to the charecters and didn't want the game to end :smileysad:

I completely agree. There has been a distinct lack of high quality adventure titles over the last few years and it was an absolute joy playing through this one and I'm still enjoying replaying through.

Re: Completed Game - "A Message to Quantic Dream"

By far one of the best games i have EVER played, as soon as it finished i loaded it straight back up to see what i could do differently, i have never done that before its always on to the next game, but i cannot stop thinking about this game, both myself and my missis have played through the game and both with different outcomes.

This game is so good at being both a game and a film that i found myself really enjoying watching my missis play, which normaly annoys me as she makes so many mistakes, but in this game you cannot make any mistakes, as it all just feeds the story to make it all the more varied and different for each user.

Plain and simple, i want more, a lot more, i want to roll around in this like a pig in mud, this game has brought out so many emotions in me and has made me feal enthusiatic about video games again, this is the only next-gen game so far that has matched if not surpassed the feelings i got when i first played the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (which is now struggling to remain my game of all time).

This has opened a path for story telling like never before, and could be used in so many applications, and also with games like this i look forward even more to 3D games, just image this game in 3D, making it even more immersive and getting you even deeper into the game, i've got goosebumps just thinking about it.

Re: Completed Game - "A Message to Quantic Dream"

I would also like to sign under what the thread starter wrote and thank Quantic Dream for believing in adventure gaming and great storytelling, and delivering this amazing creation that is so much more than the label "game" can possibly enclose.

I've played it through twice already (bought it on Friday), and I know I will keep replaying it many many times more. I was scared it'd be too short but I must admit that (even though I'm a greedy c*nt when it comes to great games/movies/books) I thought it was just right. The tension and atmosphere is such that if it were a bit longer it would probably leave us all with massive headaches, sweating, worried sick for poor Ethan & Shaun and let's admit it... every single character we get even a tiny glimpse of.

I disliked Blake from the second he opened his mouth, I felt sorry for Nathaniel (what a great character), for Jayden (loved him), and embraced him right when I first played the demo (I've waited years for this game to come out). I fell in love with Ethan (my favourite), and his house and his children... (I LOVED his atelier and spent a little time "sketching" with him), got terribly sad while he watched a home-movie of his family, missing Jason and the family life, felt sick having to guide him through his painful and terrifying adventure to save his son.

Also really liked Lauren... I loved the caring side to Shelby. Loved kicking arse with Madison...

And goodness, the whole story is just so good. It's so great to have great storytelling back in the world of games.

Nevermind the amazing engine, the gorgeous textures, the stunning mo-cap, the incredible soundtrack... the story really makes it what it is, and I really hope it gets GOTY everywhere and sells like ice-cold water/beer in a scorching day.

I can't wait to play the extra episodes (already got the code to download the first when it gets out), and I hope to see many more games of this kind coming from you guys, in the (hopefully not very distant) future.

Hope to see the bugs sorted out soon!

Re: Completed Game - "A Message to Quantic Dream"

Hi

same as many above this game was just stunning. I missed quantic dreams previous titles on the ps2 and have a very strong urge to play them through. The game just took you to the edge, gritty, realistic even stomach churning at points Encore. I can't wait  to see how many ways i can finish this game.

I must also point out how attached i became to these characters through the touching and dramatic stories, i have only became this attached to characters this much once before in Final Fantasy 7 way back in 97 thats a long time ago which says something.

Please Keep The Innovative Titles Coming

Thankyou Thankyou

Quantic Dream

Outstanding Work
