I'm also playing a fat NTSC 60 gig backwards compatible style PS3 and having the same problems...the real question is anyone having problems who *isn't* using a fat PS3?

Guys, I even installed it and ran it while the PS3 was on it's side, lol. You know, just in case it had something crazy to do with the laser. Man, I'm at my wits end...

i also have the fat one, and everything seems to work fine. Although, it did froze twice the entire gameplay.

I've got the old 60Gb PS3 upgraded to a 500Gb hard drive and I've had almost no problems. There was one scene with a bit of screen tearing but other than that it's been fine. Whatever's wrong with yours I hope they can fix it and that it's not a problem with your machine. I'd cry if mine stopped working.

Its 5400rpm.
Honestly I'm about 2 seconds from just popping the old 60 GB drive back in to test it out. But those screws.....those evil evil screws.....
