Probably because they wanted people to lay through the ARG for the game and the home space and that.  giving it away would be too easy.

So if the codes had not been published they could of had people trying to work out the clues for a week and if they did not manage it then the demo would be on the store

Click on the cig, and then you get a further choice to long cig or short cig, click the small one.

And OP, strictly speaking, it's NOT on the store, its a promotional code. 2 different things.
