@ fLoEy91 Log in to your PSN and you should see the redeem icon on the top right i believe.

I've played the demo a few times, and i think because i've watched too many HR videos on youtube so when i played it, i wasn't feel that excited. On Shelby part, i thought it was really interesting. i enjoyed the fight scene. I have to agree the crime scene part is a bit boring. Overall, i'm still gonna buy the game because what i like about it is the story.

Re: Heavy Rain demo Impressions.

Took me 21 hours to download the demo but was worth it. Loving the feel of the game, the dark, film noir esque look, the rain, the darkness of the characters. Brilliant.

The controls arent really that much of an issue, Im suprised so many reviews and comments have talked about them. Really all you do is push the analogue stick in the direction you want to go in and hold R2 to walk. Its identical to using the analogue stick as you normally would you just have to press an extra button. Its not hard to get used to.

Cant say I noticed any screen tearing apart from on the trailer at the end, which was strange. I think if you get involved in the characters and story and lose yourself in the game its not very noticable, but if you're someone who likes the technical aspects of a game, the quality of the visuals etc, and you're looking at those things then they're probably more noticable. Personally I didnt find it distractiong or even noticable.

After some hands on with Jayden Im still not sold on him. Especially as he introduces himself as "Narmen Jayden". Your names Norman, NOR-man, not NAR-man At least pronounce our name right! Think he'll be the weak link of the four main characters. Shelby is great though, very well voiced I thought.

The main thing for me is the litle things you can do, that dont really make a difference to the story. The option to move around the room while questioning the woman about her son, or lean on the bed, or sit on the bed. The subtle ways to interact that dont change the way the scene plays out but makes you feel that you're IN the scene. Grabbing some coffee at the crime scene. These were really nice touches.

Overall Im impressed, Im loving the way the game is shaping up and cant wait until release day.

Re: Heavy Rain demo Impressions.

I agree quite strongly with the original thread post.

First I will tackle the hype vs actual experience.

The graphics are NOT better than Uncharted 2. Uncharted had far superior animation, less tearing and far less wooden character movement. It didnt resort to bloom and other graphics tricks.

Loading, I walked into a room and it loaded. I walked towards the stairs and it came up with the loading screen again... *****!! Uncharted you can go from start to end without a single loading screen, this game cant even go from one room to another.

Voice acting. Bad, really bad. Its very clear that each person just read their lines seperate from the person they are interacting with. Uncharted and even Avatar the movie the voice acting is done while the person actually acts and with the person they are interacting with. This makes it so lifelike. Heavy Rain left me dissapointed for a game which seems to be all about the story.

I will be buying this game as I love a good story and I think this will have it. I cant tell you how much I enjoyed Uncharted 1 and 2 with excellent story and gameplay and I hope this can come on par.

The controls were a bit 'meh, so what'. Unique  control experience, all that means is they make the R2 move you instead of the right stick and X no longer jumps. Also Im not sure how much fun its going to be to just push buttons when the screen tells you to. Kind of makes you wonder why bother asking at all and not just get on and do it?

This could be the best game ever, the killer we've all been waiting for. It could be one massive media marketing failure. Lets hope its the former.

Re: Heavy Rain demo Impressions.

i dont like it at all, i think its an acquired taste amd not for me at all, i may get the full game when it goes down in price, graphics are real nice, but that doesnt make a game. not so sure this game will live up to the hype yet again....

Re: Heavy Rain demo Impressions.

Anyone noticed the calibre of posts in this thread is quite high compared to certain other game themed threads.... Like..... fps games.....

I like demographics sometimes.

Re: Heavy Rain demo Impressions.

Climbing up the hill at the crime scene, getting a coffee? Didnt know you could even do these things! Needs another play through.

Surely the final release will be 1080p, no?

Re: Heavy Rain demo Impressions.

I have to say I have mixed feeling for this, but will be getting the game (just not at launch due to a mass of other games to play...).

The control system will take a bit of getting used to. It felt very clunky walking about. QTEs were spot on however.

The questioning sections seem a bit odd ... do they actually make much difference (hard to tell in the demo I know). The fight was absolutely brilliant. In the back of my mind was the though "I could actually die", made me fight for real! I'll have to go back and retry that section to see how it goes.

The FBI crime scene section was a bit dull and boring for me. Although apparently there is a hill or something to climb? Missed that!

Overall I like it, whether I'll love it remains to be seen.  But for me it's simple, as a gamer I have to get this to experience something different and to reward them for trying something that doesn't involve a space marine!

A random though for you all.  Other than exploring and moving around you don't have to do the QTEs to continue?  If so you could play and finish the whole game that way.  All your guys will end up dead I guess, but might be worth a play-thru like that to see what happens???!?

First scene: Excellent. Loved this part, fight scene was really cool :smileyhappy:

Second scene: This was kinda stupid. The evidence thing got annoying. The climbing up the hill..... you need like freakish hands to do that. I had to use my nose for one bit of that, and I'm not even joking  xD

I'm gonna buy it. Hopefully theres more like the first one than the second.

You know you only had to hold two of the buttons at a time, right?

No. I still did it though. I challenge you all to do what I did!
