Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

I have that egsact same problem!!!! Is there a solution to this?! It frezzes at the first scene when you first start the bear chapter. I replayed the previous chapter and nothing happened, I replayed 2 previous chapters is a row and It still got stuck! What can I do to finish this game? Have they found a solution should I just wait or just give up and curse the game?!!!

PS. In case your wondering I'm using ps3 european slim. and the 2.0 version of heacy rain which was downloaded before first playing the game.

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

I bought move edition, and the problem is still there. It's horrible you know, it absolutely spoils everything, because if it freezes in the middle of an action scene, when I repeat it I know where I failed, so the fresh first play is lost. It has frozen to me like 5 times, 4 of them in the Blue Lagoon and the other one in the next action sequence after it.

It's embarrasing they take time to add the move thing (that I like of course) but not fix this major issue in all these time. I thought QD love their game much more than this and would like us to experience it at its best.

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

From my own experience once it starts in a story that's it - it will crash every few minutes. I just gave up the story and started a new one which is now fine.

I wondered if it might be to do with lack of hard disk space to create the swap files etc.? I was down to 1GB free when it was happening. I upgraded the hard disk and it has been fine ever since - but only with the new story. The original story that was crashing is still corrupt.

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

Yeah, I had some advices about having less than 500mb free, so I delete some demos, now I have about 2GB and it didn't happen again. I also thought maybe it had something to do with that, but anyway, I just play one day since then (I finished the game), but I will see if it happens again in my second play. In one playthrough it freezed 5 times. I will compare with the second.

Anyway, I have to say that it nearly freezed lots of times during the credits, and the audio was half cut. Horrible. Fortunatelly, it was during credits and not epilogue.

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

I would like to chime in on my issues with Heavy Rain.

I rented this game from Gamefly, and have been looking forward to it's arrival.

I inserted it into my Ps3. And it installed the 2.0 (move) updated, and then installed itself to the PS3. I started it up and then it got stuck at a "loading" screen before anything even came up on the screen.

I quit the game (which caused a reboot of my ps3) and then started it back up, it then got past the loading screen and I could hear music, but nothing came up on screen. The music eventually stopped, so I quit the game (ps3 reboot) and started over again.

This time, I went in and deleted my save game files, as I had already read that might be a problem.

When I started it up (#3), I was able to actually start playing. Worked fine for 15 minutes, then I noticed the audio had cut off. I kept playing, hoping it would kick back in. I was in the kitchen, at the start of the game and was about to make coffee when the game froze.

I shut the system down and started it back up. Subsequent reboots would lead to locking up or freezing during the loading screen or after I tried to load a save game.

At this point, I began doing things as systemmatically as I could. I deleted the 2.0 update and tried to run the system as it was on the disc. This didn't work. I tried to delete the install data, this did not fix it.

Each time, I made sure my save files were deleted (since I hadn't gotten far enough in the game, they didn't matter)

Nothing worked at all. A combination of updates and installs couldn't bring anything to work properly.

Then I decided to see if my sound system was the problem. I have a HDMI sound system that connects several HDMI devices then runs one HDMI cable to my TV. I removed it from my sound system and ran the HDMI cable directly from my PS3 to my TV.

This is where things got worse:

Now, whenever I start the Heavy Rain game, it will do the "Sony Computer Entertainment" logo and then show the "Quanticdream" logo, and then that's it. A black screen. No menu, no loading screen. Nothing.

I have tried running my TV in 720p, 1080i and even 480p. None of them seem to fix the problem.

My last solution has been to backup my PS3 data, and then do a COMPLETE FORMAT AND RESTORE of my PS3 system. Once it was done, the first thing I did was installed Heavy Rain and try to run it. It performs exactly the same way as it did before the Format and Restore.

I don't really see what else I can do. I intend to try and find my Composite cords (yellow/red/white) and hook them up, seeing if the ps3 will play nice with that.

I have a Ps3 Slim 120GB. This is the ONLY game I've ever had a problem with. It's running firmware 3.55

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

I had similar problems. I took the disc back to where I bought it and told them it was faulty and they kindly replaced it. I've not had any issues with the 2nd disc.

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

So is anyone even trying to fix this game? I mean honestly should I expect a solution to come up by qd or should I just accept the fact that I bought a faulty game and spent over 10 hours on it just to get the same result on all ocations?? a freeze on chapter 8, 22, and finally 29... I wasted way too much time trying to finish this game!

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

I am stuck at "kramer's party".  I deleted my save game, replayed, but the issue is still there.  I just can't go through that chaper.  I had 2.0 patch installed.  I removed the patch and tried again, but the problem is still there.   I have a new ps3 slim (which came with the move bundle), so I don't think there is any problem with my console. I have faced freezes in my last game (fallout 3), but that was sorted out as soon as I installed the patch.  Any suggestions how to finish heavy rain?

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

I'm willing to wager that the people that are having freezing problems have one of these issues with their PS3:

1) Their PS3 is the old, thick version that is no longer in development

2) Their PS3 has limited space left on the hard drive

3) Their PS3 is running old firmware

4) Their PS3 is hacked (directly related to number 3)

Someone above me complaining mentions that he is running 3.55.... Why? 3.56 was released a month ago, hacker.

I'm tired of people hacking their PS3s and then complaining when games no longer work properly. You took a risk, now deal with it. If you want to run old firmware and compromise the quality of your ps3 for the sake of the hack, be my guest, but don't come on here and complain afterwards.

I recently bought my PS3 in December, and I am running 3.56. I just got Heavy Rain as a birthday gift and I have had no problems whatsoever. Not a single freeze. Not once.

Re: Heavy Rain freezing problem

[ Edited ]

Oh yeah, the guy above is totally right.

Never mind the fact that when this game was first released, the current PS3 firmware version was 3.15.

Never mind the fact that even if a particular model of PS3 is an older one, the damn thing should play every game that's released for it (cause, y'know, that's why we BOUGHT IT).

Never mind the fact that limited hard drive space has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game getting problems WHILE PLAYING IT, since if there wasn't enough space to install the damn game, it wouldn't be possible to even play it in the first place.

Never mind the fact that if a game is released and charged for, one thing that it should most certainly do is WORK.

Seriously, marco, what the hell is wrong with you?
