I have an old 20gb fat PS3 but with everygame I've ever played it has been more or less solid. I have the latest update for the console and game and I can't load the lizard. It just stays on the loading screen. Left it there an hour.
It sounds like Ihave to start a new game but I'm wondering if I shouldn't just return it instead of investing another 6 hours only to have it happen again.

i have a 20gb ps3 fat. I got heavy rain 3 or 4 days ago and at first it seemed fine. I loaded the game and installed the latest patch that was 2gb of data. Started playing and really liked the game play. I played fine for about 4hrs or so. Next day i played it more and at the end of my session i got a freeze. had to reset my ps3 by holding down power button and got 3 beeps. if i turned it back on immediately and loaded the game some times it would not load. If it loaded past the initial screen and i load my save it would crash some where in the same scene.
Last time i played i only got about 30min in before it locks up my ps3. Ive never had this many problems with any other game. i upgraded my hdd in my ps3 to a 120gb. I use hdmi and run at 1080 to a plazma. I use optical for audio to a receiver.
just today i put in rock band 3 and started to have major problems with it like after a song it freezes and cant load the song select screen. And then triple beep hard reset needed. The thing is before Heavy Rain, Rock Band 3 never crashed my system to the point i had to hard reset it. At most i got the crash to XMB problem and it was rare. Another thing it did was on reboot Id didn't see the rock band 3 disk in the drive, I ejected it and reinserted it and after i loaded the game I was in the song select screen and one of the rb3 songs had no preview or album art so i selected it with play song option and it just sat there. Triple beep etc..
Did Heavy Rain over load my PS3 ?
Im currently trying to get the system backed up and im going to try all the recovery options to see if i cant get it working like it use to.
Just wanted to post here as i have a post on the US board as well. With all the posts i see about heavy rain on here and the US board im surprised that they are taking this more serious as this is sure to affect a lot of customers. And heavy rain is a game that might get ppl to buy the motion controller..
I really like Heavy rain and i hope this gets sorted.

I picked up Heavy Rain (Move Edition) the other day and after doing a few tasks in the beginning of the game, getting dressed and going downstairs, the audio vanished completely and a few seconds later the game froze and locked up my PS3 - A one year old PS3 Slim 250GB unit. I was playing with the regular Dualshock 3 controller. I use optical audio out and HDMI for video only.
I played the demo back before the game was released and it also had audio and system lock-up issues.
It's quite appaling to see that these issues persist after all this time. I thought that this re-release disc would work.
Please fix this issue! Many people are plagued by audio/freezing issues, even if some people don't have the issues at all. How hard can it be to track this crippling bug on a fixed hardware platform? This is unacceptable.
Edit: I have not experienced any issues with any other game on this PS3 system.

i had a launch day 60 gig model cechao1 that finally got ylod and playing heavy rain on there it never froze once at all and i never had any issues with sound or anything else, after ylod i got a new 160 gig slim model and ps move and decided to start heavy rain over again because i lost my save file and it freezes at the very beginning of the game now i cant even make it down the stairs before it freezes in the first chapter im gonna take it down to my brothers 160 gig model and see if it does it there, there are no scratches no ding nothing and all the other games i have work perfectly on the new console, oh and when the game goes to recognize the move controller it freezes. hope this helps a little bit id like to finish the game atleast once

I had the same problem as a lot of you guys, i would get to the suicide baby chapter and it would lock up before the chapter would load. i tried deleting the 2.0 patch, playing with the internet off, going back a few chapters, reinstalling, nothing worked. even tried starting a new game and still locked up the same place. i exchanged it for a new game and the chapter loaded right up!
so if youre having issues, try exchanging your disc if you can. i dont know whats up with it because my original disc was practically spotless, no scratches or anything. maybe they used crappy machines to press the game discs and a bunch turned out bad.

Hi all,
I just got the Move edition of Heavy Rain and have already had it freeze on me at the difficulty selection screen! I reset the PS3 and managed to install the game data, but only for it to freeze again! Upon resetting again I was able to get in-game, move about and experience audio loss when the guy read the note by the bedroom door, but just after exiting the room it froze yet again... I've since tried deleting the game data and saves in order to try a new install but it continues to freeze.
I'm very disappointed in this because you can't return a game once opened, especially when the software itself is at fault. There's undoubtedly not going to be a fix coming anytime soon, or so I've heard, so I'm now stuck with a useless disc... thanks quanticdream.
