Heavy Rain

Need help:  At Lexington station and Ethan is having a panic.  Moving the controller in the correct directions and when it gets to the point where I hold down R1, then L1, then move the controller up and down:  there is a moment where it stops and he is breathing heavily and you see red dots briefly. Then it goes right back to the beginning of the panic attack and I can't get past it. What am I doing wrong?  Is there something I need to push right then for him to pull out an inhaler?  This is dumb, I know, but it is making me crazy.  Thanks.
