Re: Version 0.8.3 Suggestions

when moving objects in your house there should be a option to manually select the object you want to move yourself, scrolling through all the objects in a cycle is tedious and long :smileysad: it especially won't be good when a avatar has loads of objects in their house and they want to move one thing. You have to get rid of the separate downloads to go into each area. Why can't those areas be included in the original HOME download from the store. When it first started you didn't have to download 30mb or anything to get to another area. It is so annoying and just creates a very lengthy load time. You will get absolutely grilled by the press and public if you leave this in for release. i agree highly, i was disappointed when the community team decided to make you download each area as you enter it, not only will it be slow and tedious when more and more areas are revealed it will become a nightmare for people with slow broadband speeds traffic shaping and so on, it doesn't help that you can't message your friends while downloading the area too, so if they are waiting for you in the area you are downloading you can't message them and say "i should be there in a min" or something like that. the loading of each area should go back to the way it was before, the less downloading home areas the better.

Re: Version 0.8.3 Suggestions

Furniture placement / move existing furniture. As previously stated, furniture placement is not nice at all. The camera is too close to the item (mostly) and it makes it hard to see the rest of the room while moving items. Often I can see through the floor / walls when trying to move items, no biggie, just doesn't look right. As others have stated, scrolling through your list of existing items is awful, especially if you have a well decorated room.
  • If you do stick with a scroll through method, could you perhaps start with the nearest item to the avatar then progress through the list in order of how far away the item is to the character. This way you can stand nearer the area you want to manipulate when moving existing items around.
Objects that have fallen over (lamps / mask etc.) stay fallen over when you try to move them or re-right their orientation. I have seem to have real problems placing lamps / vases on tables & getting them to stay up. They fall over more times than not. I have to remove the item, then add the item again to get it in the upright position if it's already fallen over.
  • Could items that being moved re-right themselves to the upright position ? Like when 'adding' a new item.
The tiki mask is quite funny when it does it's poltergeist thing, but it took me forever to replace all of my moved items & the ones that had fallen over & didn't auto-self-right had to be removed & re-added.
  • Could you have a 'saved' decoration slot (like the avatar save feature) ? This way if you redecorate & don't like it, you don't have to spend ages getting your home back as it was before you started redecorating. Only one would suffice, but several saves would be great.
  • If you try to move a table / storage item that has ornaments could the ornaments move with the table (grouped items) ? As currently they fall through the table / storage item and fall on the floor & have to be moved manually.

Re: Version 0.8.3 Suggestions

Concerning furnitre movement I agree with the others about how it's not well worked at the moment. You could do something like what planetlee suggested or you could attempt one of the following: Splitting the items into categories, at least that way the items wopuld be ggrouped meaning there'd be less items to cycle through though still not an ideal solution. or: When clicking move going into a mode similar to forge on Halo 3. i.e. a moveable camera, and having a crosshair or cursor so you can click an object you wish to move. Simply ray casting can be used to see which item was selected. (development suggestion). I'm not sure how feasible that idea is but I do think an alternative idea to the current system needs to be implemented.

Re: Version 0.8.3 Suggestions

Furniture rearrangement

I find the Furniture replacing annoying...Isn't it possible to add a feature, where you just go to for ex. a chair, press a Button, a menu pops up and you choose from a list "replace chair"...or something like this.
I hate to cycle through a list of furniture and choose the one I will replace.
Because if you have more than one of the same and because of the camera angle, sometimes it is hard to pick up the right one.

I'd agree with this - it's currently a really cumbersome process to move a piece of already placed furniture. Part of the need for so much shuffling is the poor view you have of the environment when placing furniture in the first place. You really need to be able to rotate and zoom your view of the item, as well as lifting and turning the item itself. When you're trying to perfect a layout, particularly a symmetrical one, it's impossible to do so without a lot of trial and error.

Also, when you select to add a new piece of furniture, you are always taken back to a default entry point (i.e. by the front door in the Summer House). I would much prefer the default position to be the last place you placed a piece of furniture, as you are usually working on the same bit of the residence, rather than placing things randomly. :smileywink:

How about a Maze, could be a fun addition to the game, i dunno if anyone has allready suggested it, but i would use a maze :Scared: If you could make it like the one in labyrinth where the walls move, that would be the best, or just like the one in the shining.. also... needs more cowbell....

Actually, I think this makes sense... you only have to download an area once, until it gets changed. So if there are any bugs in that particular area when we get to a live environment, or new content, then it could mean you wouldn't have to download the whole of Home when you next sign on - just that area and only when you visit it...

I think the initial download should be for everything though, but can see the merit of being able to control individual area downloads in the case of patches or new content...

Re: Version 0.8.3 Suggestions

Theatre - option to download video in HD to HDD

Billboards - as above

General - better camera restraints, lots of through the floor/wall moments

Avatar Names - Hard to read, they need a background colour, like the chat bubbles

I quite enjoy these mini games, there's plenty that could be done along those lines.
