Engineer one turret?

How come engineers can only place one turret?. Every time I place a turret when I have an existing one, the existing one will explod, is this meant to happen?

its to prevent spawn rape, imagine 3 engineers with 5 turrents each near the spawn = me trading in game

Why didn't they just keep the same rule as kz2, where only four bots can be deployed at once no matter whos they are, this makes the engineer class so bad, as turrets are the main thing with this class, also it's awful as they take like 3 bullets to destroy

it was pointless in KZ2 as well, who the hell wanted to wait around for there turret to respawn for like 5 mins, i agree with the damage thing though, should be much stronger

I like the new system, my turret is fully maxed up and fires RPG's at people as they get in range, it tracks and turns very fast. I wish it had more health though, but the rockets it fires are a 1 hit insta kill on enemies so they have to keep it balanced.

You only really need one turret I think, its always in the prime place because as you move around the map you always find a better spot nearer the objective and you are basically bringing your turret to the new location - so you don't need that old one anymore.

Having only one means I look after it more, I go back and repair it often and I keep revising where it needs to be. I hate the LMG's though, instead I use the STA-11 smg and the grenade battle pistol.

Yeah I think that if players had more than one turret it'd be too powerful - pretty well balanced at the moment.

Well one thing I´ve certainly noticed in KZ3 is that as an engineer/tactician I almost always get to summon my drone/turret. One thing I disliked in KZ2 was having a cool robot at my disposal, but being unable to use it because every time I joined a game some douchebag had already placed all 4 of them and in terrible spots above all else.

 

If I had to wager I´d say its to let players use their abilities more and to prevent idiots who have no idea how to use turrets from screwing his/her entire team out of them. A much needed improvement in my opinion.

Yeah it annoyed me in kz2 when you couldnt deploy a bot too, but the turrets are so weak on kz3,hardly any uses the class. Am a maxed out engi and a no that they fire missile but you seen how fast they go, you could probably out run them, I hope they increase turret strength

I disagree, I have been playing Engineer alot and I find if you place them in the right spots, you get at least one kill from a turret. Well i do anyway.

Try placing them near objectives, either overlooking it from a high position (Headshots), or hiding in a corner but so that it can see the objective. I'm mainly talking about arming/disarming the bombs. But it also works for capture and hold too.

Try sneaky places that the enemy don't expect and normally you can get a kill or two.

i think this is a brilliant change from killzone 2, there were a few time i entered an engineer heavy game and found that or or 3 people where constantly hogging all the turrets and it was a mad fight to get a turret down, when one of theirs expired.

killzone 3 system of one turret per engineer max with a team max of 4 turrets works very well and is alot fairer.

one thing which does really annoy me is when im trying to place a turret and one of my team walks right in front of me canceling the turret placing and sets the plant timer thing back to zero, has got me killed a few times
