grrr jealous
Not sure you can use the word 'deserve' when he boasted of ribon padding on here, the only things padders really deserve are stat wipes for making a mockery of those of us who've gone about things the right way.
As for the difficulty of getting the platinum, I think it's a good thing. Platinum trophies should be hard as hell to get and only the most dedicated players should be able to get them.
I spent most of my first year as a PS3 owner putting in over 200 hours and aren't even close to max rank or the platinum on there but I don't have a problem with that because I don't feel I should be entitled to get a platinum on every game I own or feel the need to cheat to get them when I can't do them legitimately.
I'd much rather have all platinum trophies like this than like the one in Fallout 3 which anyone can get.

lot of moaning mini's on here...
The trophy's are not that hard to get.... i have been working 12 hr shifts this week and still managed so far to get in the top 3000.... to be in with a chance this week you need to be about rank 3750 for the week....
i'm only putting in a couple of hours an evening, best place is playing bodycount 30 min 100kill matches... it's the only game setup that offers the most points in the shortest time....can be done easy imo

Hey,
Last week I played a bunch, and I got the #3 Honor Rank (referring to Killzone.com), but I didn't log in to the PSN since Sunday evening, because my Internet is down, and I probably won't get it back for another week or two.
So, when I get the Internet back, and log in to the Warzone, could I expect the #3 Honor Rank ribbon (or trophy at least) even if it was two weeks back?
I'm aiming for Platinum on Killzone, so if I try to get #4 Honor Rank, it should be a problem, but still, it's nice to get some trophies. ^^
Cheers

ok heres the deal.
i just read the first few posts so idk if this has been answered.
butt
rank 1= top 10% of tht week
rank 2= top 6% of tht week
rank 3= top 3% of tht week
rank 4= top 1% of tht week.
also if you get rank 3 one week all ranks below it will be unlocked if not already.
this actually is not tht hard.
i got my game on a thursday played a little friday and saturday and like all day sunday.
and got rank 3 in one weekend.
all you really have to do is not be horrible.
get a + k/d ratio
and if your really horrible and have no chance.
you can just boost by making a game puttin a password on and gettin one of your friends in there.
but tht would make you a meggggga douchbag.

Look, this isn't really that hard. I already figured out I will (hopefully) be earning the 1% on sunday evening.
-your overall score doesn't mean anything. it's your weekly score. your cumulative points from sunday 12am gmt to the next sunday 12am gmt.
-you can sort of check your ranking so far in the week. on the game, you can check what rank you are for the current week. it does not tell you how many people that rank is out of, but you can roughly estimate. it shows how many pages of rankings are on there. take the number and multiply it by 10. so take your rank and divide it by the estimated participants. that's your current weekly rank. on killzone.com, you can see how many people are in total for the week, but for whatever reason you can only see last week's rankings.
Now the facts on earning the rank. Yes, you have to have skill, and yes, you have to put time into it. The question on how much time is questionable though, obviously depending on how good you are. But skill and time arent the only things that'll get you the honour rank
Selecting the right game:
-search for a worldwide, body count, 25-32 person game. you may or may not choose radec academy as the only map.
-select a game that has no friendly fire, faction balancing, custom weapons, and possibly custom badges. if you can, select one that only has radec academy in it
-when you get into the game, make sure that there are no rpg's. any game with those will just get you blown up every few seconds and will justbe a waste of time.
Now these type of games will get you the best rate at getting points per time spent. However, preparetion is also helpful.
What you should or will need:
-the first obvious one is practice. get used to the controls (especially the aiming), the maps, and where players tend to be/do and where spawn points are usually depoyed. get used to dealing with sentry bots. be able to recognize the difference in disguised players. take note of where snipers tend to be and be wary of cloaked ones. i'm sure there are other things that are important that i cant think of now, but you'll notice them if you play a lot.
-get at least 2 medals. the body count medal and the headshot medal. to get bodycount ribbons, the easiest way is to play in games with little amounts of people. and for headshots, play in a game with a lot of people and a really long game (multiple missions that are all very long). dont try too hard to get exact headshots. the game's natural lag doesn't make the determinatioon of a headshot very accurate. sometimes i swear i get a headshot, than dont, and other times i swear i diodnt get one, but i get credit for one anyways. just aim in the general upper body region. for the body count medal, you'll get 3 points instad of 2 for every kill, and if that kill is a headshot, you will get 4 points per kill
-an optional medal to get is the melee one. you wont be using melee attacks that often, but if you have the medal, you'll also get 4 points per kill with the body count medal.
Now since with those medals, and hopefully skill you've acquired, you should be getting around the maximum points per round. I usually get around 30-70 in game points. however, a big part of earning points is being on the winning faction. Now some of these tips may be defined as "cheating" or "do****baggery" to some people, but they are legitimate things you can do in the game, and if you have a problem with it, complain to GG, not me
Faction tips:
-For different maps, some factions have slight advantages just because of how the map is set up. i dont know specifics for all of them, but for radec academy, isa has a greater chance of being a winner. but ive seen helghan's do overwhelmingly good before, so just look out for these things.
-if youve been on the losing faction for awhile, and can see the other one does a lot better, you can change it. note that if you are in a squad, you can NOT change factions until you leave that squad. so if you are not in a squad, and if you're in a faction balancing game, you'll be automatically selected for one of them. i'm not sure exactly why, but the chances of you being in the same faction as you were previously is almost guaranteed. however, if you still want to change, you can at the main menu. go to the factions tab, and if your faction has more people than the other, press x and you will change to the other side. this can be easily done before the game starts, but it can, not as easily, be done anywhere during the game. if you realize that you are on the losing faction midgame, you can change factions whenever you respawn if they are unbalanced to your side, but the chances of that happening decrease when in midgame. you will still have all your points. as long as you end the game on the winning side, you get the multiplier. this will give you a huge advantage for getting the honour rank.
I could give you my specific tactics i use in game, but I feel that you should use one that works best for you. i will say this though. i believe the LMG is the best weapon in the game. the shotgun is nice, but i think you have a less chance of getting headshots with it. but maybe it's just not a weapon for me. if you really want to know how i play, just ask and i may tell you.
If you do everything here, your chances of getting the red honour rank will increase dramatically. you may only have to kill a weekend, but if you are unsure of your skills, find an entire week to kill. you dont necessarily have to play 24/7. the max hours i played in one day was 7. if you have any questions, just ask.

Sorry to be pedantic, buit that should probably be 12am Monday to 12am Monday, or more accurately 12am Monday to 11.59pm the following Sunday
