AAAAAAAARRGH wrote:To be fair, much of what Cloudburst says is valid. GG was basically trying to broaden its appeal to the COD crowd but completely forgot about its core market in the process. There really was a huge amount of criticism almost as soon as the game launched, as a lot of what made KZ2 great was removed or messed up.
The marksman class, while eventually nerfed, still had a huge advantage over every other class. GG was so slow to respond and patch things in, that many people left the community as a result. You only have to look at the overall sales figures of KZ3 to see it faired poorly compared to its predecessor.
I tried to stick with it thinking it would come good, but come the end of summer, I'd grown tired of 1 vs. 1 matchups on the biggest warzone maps. And don't bother with the DLC either, while the new maps looked great, nobody was on them.
Well said dude - they certainly lost sight of what they needed to do to retain the people who would actually keep playing the game a year after release.
Nobody should criticse them for wanting to expand their audience; unfortunately they failed to do this and removed what made KZ2 great, so what's left is a game with no players and flawed mechanics.
I thought the DLC design was excellent, but it failed because it didn't work with the game and even fewer people bought it than in KZ2.

Yeah, I have no problem with developers seeking to expand their audience, but the way GG attempted it was unforgiveable. It really sucks, as the potential was absolutely huge and despite what we say.. its not like beyond irretrievable. Stuff can be patched in that would completely overhaul many of the issues (but obviously at this stage wayy to late).
Trouble is GG was completely unwilling to compromise even in face of mass desertion. Their nerfing of marksman was a pitiful token gesture, at best.
And Jake, don't get me wrong, the games are still worth picking up. I highly recommend the single player campaigns (2 is a lot harder, imo). The opening sequence to KZ2 is for me, one of the greatest in gaming. Always got me really hyped to play every time. In Visari and Radec, you also have 2 memorable characters who were very popular with the community.
I'm sure if you play with your friends online you'll find it more enjoyable, and they'll be able to help you out a lot. As Cloudburst says, you'll be up against very experienced players on 2, while on 3 you might struggle to find worthwhile games.
Thinking about it, you might not notice all the problems like the rest of us did, so they probably won't bother you in the slightest!
Enjoy anyway.

My advice;
get KZ2 for the single player (it was awesome) and play KZ3 online. I can't speak to which online game is 'better' as I didn't play KZ2 online, however, I LOVE the onlne of KZ3. It is one of the best multiplayer games of all time! IMO.
You will face players who know a lot more about the game (of course). However, you can rank up and aquire the weapons needed to be successful much more quickly than COD. Trust me on that. Much less frustration and lag isn't as big of a problem as the game isn't so fast that the lag kills you more then the other player.
The ONLY complaint I have is that there were too few operations game mode maps. Other then that, great game.
I just played eariler this week, full rooms and lots of fun! The people who didn't like it have left and the ones who are left really like it. Good times I assure you!

Interesting how many people say Killzone 3 is unbalanced and has a small community when i in fact play every other day and can say i get in to a game almost instantly every time and always play against different people.
As for the Marksman and Tactician being over powered. I use the Engineer and whether spawn camped or not manage to always sustain a decent ratio and am almost always at or near the top of the scoreboards.
Every class has it's use, you can change between them each time you die too, if your team don't have enough bases and your at risk of being spawn camped then hit up the tactician and rush bases, if your team are doing that well without you then assist them by building ammo supply box's. That's exactly what i do.
The game itself is very team orienated and the sniper class does in my opinion is the most useless because despite probably getting the best ratio you'll find that your not doing enough for your team just sitting aiming at an entry point like a door or a corridor waiting to killing a guy every 15 seconds.
The tactician, engineer and the infiltrator all serve great team purpose and the sniper is just for maintaining KDR and If you play for a good KDR and not to help a team and enjoy yourself then by all means go and play another game because i would much rather non snipers. As for the medic... where do i begin.. it needs a major buff! Give us something better or allow the medic to throw down Health packs like in KZ2, that would assist us greatly!
