Not noobish at all mate, can be tricky if your not sure what your looking for.
Okay go on you PS3, turn it on.
Go across to account management, press X
Then this should open another list of options, you want to go down to "Redeem code"
You then will be faced with 3 boxes, go along and enter your code in to them, it is 4 characters per box. You should of received you code looking like this GH7R-I895-Q11T, (ignore the letters and numbers, just an example.) should be obvious how to enter in to the boxes. Click on each one and enter using the vitual key board that comes up on screen.
Once finished enter the code, then you will get a list of what you have just redeemed.
