Played some levels earlier, quite a few good ones already.

One thing I will say, is that msot of the ones I've seen so far are quite unoriginal in the way they move. A lot just seem to be the left stick connected to an advanced mover. You're probably going to need to do more than that if you want to make it to the finalists. :smileywink: My favourite method of movement I've seen so far is using the left stick to rotate a sort of thruster and holding a button (I'd recommend x) to move forwards depending on which way the thruster is pointing.

Also, one thing I now realised I forogt to mention in the OP - try and use lots and lots of sounds. LBP2 has some great new sound effects perfect for moving mechanisms and stuff, and there's been one or two I've played so far which looked and worked great but were very quiet. My rule of thumb is "if it moves, it should make a noise!"

Can't wait to see what more there is to come over the next two weeks. :smileyhappy:

Sure, it's neither innovative nor imaginative but hey, it works and is intuitive, which in most settings would be enough. Is this a competition about designing a wonderful submarine or about designing a great control method? :smileywink:

Both. :smileywink:

It's not so much the control method, more how it moves. Just using an advanced mover, combined with a gyroscope, doesn't really give the most realistic movement you'd expect for a submarine.

A good thing to look at as an example is the bee from stroy mode. That could be made to fly just using an advanced mover, but there's so much more going on as well  - some bobbing up and down, subtle tilting when you accelerate and move up and down, etc. Obviously flying is a bit different to swimming but you get the idea. :smileyhappy:

I kinda agree with QW, I've been playing the other entries and although it may seem like an advanced mover has been used, can we be positive that its really one underneath?. In lbp it was easier with controls being largely visible but now their could be combiners, splitters, gyroscopes, timers etc beneath which enhance the controls and make them more fluid.

I know I might do a bit of tweaking now to spice the controls of my sub up, but being such a large vechicle it may be hard to change some of the stability systems,

which leads me on to my next question, can we have toggleable control schemes? (so that if we try to make more interesting controls the vechicle will have a failsafe incase a user does not like/ can't use harder / more intricate controls)
