Due to a recent increase in the number of poorly advertised levels, and perhaps less than fantastic replies to the ads, I've decided to take it upon myself to write this little guide on creating advertisement threads.
If suitable, could this please be stickied?
Now there is a dedicated Advertise your LBP2 Level Here ! thread active in the forum. Everything I describe below applies to posting in that thread as well as creating new independent threads. It's my personal opinion though that creating your own thread will always receive more attention.
Strictly speaking any level ads should be posted on the Create & Share boards, but they aren't doing so well and I don't think anyone minds that ads are posted here.
The Guide
Title: The subject to your new thread needs to be something that will draw your audience in. Normally the title of the level you are advertising will do, but if it contains the words shark, bomb or survival then you might be better off thinking up something more imaginative.
Many threads appear with subjects like, PLEASE PLAY MY LEVEL or MY NEW AWESOME LEVEL. These are off-putting to the reader and provide no information on what the subject levels are about.
LBP.me link: The single most important thing you must include in any level ad. If you fail to put a link then you'll quickly be mauled by angry forum regulars who are too jaded to go searching for your level. Most of us are quite lazy (don't try and deny it) and will lose interest if we have to do some work in order to play the level that you want to advertise.
Description: The description is what will really persuade people to play. Tell us about your level, what can we expect to find. Is it a platformer, racer, shooter or some outlandish washing-up simulator? Is there a storyline or is what you see, what you get?
The more information you can provide, the more people will want to play. If you are enthusiastic then it shows you take some pride in this level you've created.
Pictures: This is the section that will certainly please some members of this forum. As the saying goes, a picture paints a thousand words and so saves you trying to think of something to say. Pictures look pretty and help to flesh out your advertisement, perhaps goading a couple of extra people into playing your game who weren't going to before.
That's really all there is to it. Formatting is completely up to you. Feel free to use any ridiculous fonts and colours, though pink Courier New might not be the best idea.
Of course, this is only my personal guide on advertising levels, based on trends I have seen in both good and bad posts. If anyone wants to add something I've missed then post below.
Happy posting,

Its a good guide. But i dont think people will read this. They wont listen. That's how advertising goes. You make a thread. "Play my level" A lbp.me link, then leave the forum.

Have some faith, and stay positive! Hopefully if this gets stickied then people might see it and take a little time.
And if not, then it'd be easy to link people to this. Those that care will re-do their post, those that don't obviously aren't bothered enough about getting their levels seen.

Though it's worth pointing out that if you want to give it a professional look, you should stick to one style for the main text, one style for emphasised text and include blank space between paragraphs. And don't post from a phone/tablet or you'll get a Wall-O'-Text™.

I might have to actually make this level. Because we all enjoy the washing up. I'm thinking working taps and a choice of fruity washing-up liquids.
my summer's sorted,

Wait for the Vita version then you can incorporate touch controls for checking that your plates are cleaned 'right to the squeak'. ![]()
