The reason that they're disabling boos is because good levels are getting so much negative feedback from trolls and haters, that they will never show up on the cool pages and people won't want to play a level with so much boos. But I agree that people should just be able to disable both. Eventually, some noob or troll is going to take advantage of this and start saying that yays are a substitute for boos and then yays will be a bad thing. This comment didn't make sense at all, did it?

If that patch had introduced boos rather than taking them away, i imagine thats what you would all be worried about destroying the community.

how would it Plus Boos haven't always been with us. In LBP 1 we has stars

I prefer stars. 

Because that way you can have more of a say to how much you do like the level.

Star rating was actually good. But it was flawed in LBP1 because you were FORCED to rate it. That's why every level got negative feedback. If Mm brings back the Star Rating to LBP2 and make it that its not NEEDED to rate a level if you dont want. Then it would be a good idea actually.
