Help creating (making a health bar)

Hi fellow sacks, i dont wanna get into specifics but, i want to create a health bar to go on top of my sackbot. Can anyone teach me how to do this, i dont care if it is above him or in a corner on the screen, i just want it visible somehow.

Re: Help creating (making a health bar)

Well, your going to be needing Holographic Material...

First, create a single verticle line of Holographic  from SackBoys body upwards to the height you want it to be, and set it to 0%. Then, create a horizontal line - this will be the health bar(So set it the colour you like).
Your going to need afew, each getting a little shorter every time:

[_____]
[____]
[___]
[__]
[_]

Your going to want to overlap them, almost perfectly.

Now glue this set to the top of your original, invisible 'Stick'.

Now the logic...
Place a Microchip on the bottom of the 'Stick' (Which should be located around SackBoys mid-section.
Inside this, first stick a Selector. The way this will work, is every time your character is 'Attacked/Injured', the Selector will move down a peg, revealing the next piece of Holographic, which will be that little bit shorter - so it will appear to shrink.

Place a counter and set it to 1. Place the output on both the Selector cycle (bottom of Selector) and the Counters own reset. Now connect each of the Selector outputs (you may need to tweak to make more) to each of the Pieces of Holographic (Excluding the original Verticle line)

Now you have two choices:
Connect this to the players SackBoy
or
Make a SackBot to connect this to (1 Player only)

To connect to Sackboy, simply tweak the Follower to No inner-radius, a Large outer-radius, Speed & Strength to full, Can move up/Down and Cannot change layer. Now for the 'Attack', your going to have to work with things. Say its Fire, your going to want to duplicate the fires shape, and change that into invisible holographic, and place it infront of the fire. Then place a tag on it, Labeling if 'Fire'. Now create a impact switch, and set the Tag's settings to it - & include touching! Connect this to the Counter, and your done!

To connect to a SackBot*, place a Tag in the SackBot, Labeling it PC (Player Character) and change the Followers settings to (Same as before) but setting it to Follow a Tag - this Tag. The injury is a little easier. Connect, say, a Paintinator switch to the inside of the SackBot, then place that into the counter.

*If you are yet to know how to create a a Remote Controlled SackBot - Place a Controlinator into the Sackbot, and set it to Recieve. Then place another somewhere in the level - set that to Transmit.
Now place a Movie Camera inside the Holographic Microchip - set that time to Infinite, and Enable Controls, with Not all 4 Players). Finally, connect the centre button in the Controlinator to the Movie Camera, and that should work! :smileywink:

Re: Help creating (making a health bar)

Ive tried this method, but a little differently. Ive got horizonal bars below each other, getting smaller as they go down. When i connect the selector to the holographic material, the brightness goes to zero even though on the hologram's options it says 100% brightness. Any ideas?

The Selector can only have one output active at any time. If all the outputs have been connected to a piece of Holographic each, then they should all go to 0%, minus one, which should stay at 100%. Un-Pausing should reassure this :smileywink:
